Getting ready for next weekend when I get the opportunity to help my dad with his Utah state once in a lifetime Bison hunt on the Henry mountains. The Henry mountains are located in southeastern Utah and are sandwiched between Capitol reef and canyonlands national park. The forecast is calling for rain and snow and the area is known to experience extreme flash floods, washouts, and the dreaded southern Utah purple clay.

Be careful out there, that clay is about as close as I have ever been to losing my truck. Slicker than ice.

Got a bit late yesterday...

That's Jim S. in his beautiful LX, DSRTRDR in our LX, and I was driving the '93 yet again after it's been sitting in the garage with various ailments this past half year. We were cove-hopping in the Rolls, an OHV recreation area northeast of Phoenix that borders on Saguaro Lake. Skipped coves 2 & 3, and saw very little holiday weekend traffic at all. Got denied on two climbs, spinning all four on those ball-bearing-like surfaces: I guess I need to read the trail differently as compared to when I'm in my K5. But to be fair, the K5 has more ground clearance and bigger tires, as well.
The next two pics are from FR1829 on the way out to Four Peaks Road.

Yesterday I decided I wanted to go night skiing. One hell of an adventure getting up there I left mid storm and people were off the road left and right. Cruiser took it like a champ and pulled some people out. Most notibly the bmw in the bottom pic. Cruisers kick ass

So you are saying the BMW with AWD and summer tires won't be the best option when ascending a pass during a snowstorm??? :slap:

May be a little cheesy, but it changed how I sit when I drive!
And for $80, worst case scenario I go a different route.
Tuffy changed its tan to ugly orange, so I’m happy for now.

how's it attached?

Did a few things on Bruiser yesterday:
- Changed spark plugs: Runs much cleaner and stronger without the 0.048" gap plugs (spec is 0.031") with close to 70K miles on them!
- Serviced K&N air filter
- Replaced water pump/alternator belts: When I bought it there was only one on the rear pulley groove...
- Welded up the exhaust manifold heat shields that had rusted through at the mounting holes: Hooray for no more rattles!
- Replaced door courtesy lights that were either out or not plugged in...

Things I bought/will buy today:
- Rocky Road Outfitters full step sliders
- OEM Toyota throttle cable: Hopefully this will smooth out the fairly sticky pedal feel
- New headlight bulbs: One went out on the drive back from Wenatchee yesterday. TAKING SUGGESTIONS FOR GOOD BULBS TO REPLACE THEM WITH.

I run 9011 bulbs from Rock Auto in all four, some trimming of the tab is required to run as a low beam but its easy to do. Very noticeable improvement from stock. I also run the Slee headlight harness but its not required.

1st off, I love your sig tag line! Too many people out there who don't know the joys of turning a wrench!

2nd - Do these require any modifications? Did they make a noticeable difference over the previous bulbs you had installed?

Thanks!

These bulbs require -0- modification. They are much brighter than other bulbs I have used. They are supposedly the "brightest" available without any other mods. I have had multiple eye surgeries and need LOTS of light downfield to see what I'm doing and I love these the way they are. They are not enough for some folks, but for legal on-highway, I love them. I drive with headlights on 100% of the time. I get about one year out of a set. and I drive 15K-20K miles per year.

I also have (4) additional driving lights installed that are 100 Watts each of the old-school halogen bulbs. That REALLY brightens things up.

Trimming the tab on the bulb or on the headlight housing?

The bulb itself. I just did this and it's a huge improvement and really easy to do. I did it right before a weeklong trip in the southwest where I had all variety of roads and weather, including hours and hours of driving at night in the snow, and I was SO HAPPY I did this before leaving. Just compare the bulb you take out with the 9011 and trim the tabs to match. It doesn't have to be millimeter perfect. There's a lot more written about the 9011 bulbs on here if you search. I used a Dremmel but apparently finger nail clippers work great. I also took the old o-ring off the original bulb and doubled it up on the 9011 o-ring, since they are slightly different (only the low beams, the high beam bulbs have the same size o-ring already). I don't know if this is necessary to keep out moisture, but I did it just in case.

Passenger is stock and driver is upgraded in this picture:
