Fixing bad gears in front diff, leaking arb line, TG spindle nut kit, arp studs, new Aisin hubs to finalize the part time.
Monstaliner. I sprayed then back rolled.
Wrenching rampage almost over. Ha. Just have to bend some tube armor, set up diff, and reassemble front. View attachment 1623640 View attachment 1623643 View attachment 1623644 View attachment 1623646

Have seriously considered Monstalining my truck lately. What color did you use? Can't tell if it's black or grey. Was two gallons enough for good coverage?

Is it possible my brake system is contaminated?

I think I got the second seized up caliper (different one) in one month.

I drive in my flip flops if that helps at all.

Rear?
Right Rear?

Check your LSPV and make sure the arm has proper movement up and down and allows fluid to be bled through it. Mine has a slow release due to normal loads I carry and hadn't thought about adjusting it for bleeding.

Have the day off today and got bored. Too cold to work on the trucks ... hmmm, I know what I can do. Just ordered $400 worth of stuff from Joey @ Wit's End. Happy that most of the real spendy items aren't in stock for immediate ship or it could have been much worse.

@Box Rocket ... I did 3/4 of the truck with a single gallon x 2 coats. Two gallons should get it done.

Yes. Or rear PS.

The LSPV arm is all the way up in the open position. Been like that for a year or so.
Last year when I replaced the brake lines I had to perform a flush. Lots of fluid lost in the process, the mechanic I took it to did not properly install the line, had to be redone, more fluid flush.
When I bled the brakes after the brake job, I got some coca cola coming out to my surprise. Not everywhere though.
California truck, no rust, no fluid loss. Maybe just old hard lines?

What about ABS activation? Did you bleed:
LSPV
Right Rear (or PS Rear)
Left Rear (DS Rear)
RF
LF
LSPV
Drive it, activate ABS multiple times

Lather, Rinse, Repeat......

I use right and left because no matter if you have LHD or RHD, the left hand is still on the left and the right hand is still on the right. But maybe the driver switched sides.......

Went looking for snow. Found some.

Truck pictured isn't mine. It's my buddy Salue's. He's a member on here somewhere.

He asked if I wanted to take the lead. I was like, "you go for it, buddy." I didn't know that those that don't plow, dig. Sweating with your shovel in 4 feet of snow is a unique experience.

This is Beckler River Road in Washington Cascades.
That looks quite a bit deeper than last year.

I did not start with LSPV.
RR, LR, LSPV, RF, LF, activate the ABS a few times.
Rebleed.

Curious what symptoms you had with that cracked ring gear. Was it just noisy, clunking, or what?

Found some quarters, dimes and nickels after we pulled out the entire interior last night.
A. That carpet was nasty, glad it's gone.
B. Holy sheete there was a lot of dirt and silt we had to clean and vacuum. Some of the silt had started to form into sandstone. :hillbilly:
C. Bye bye rear heater.

The only other truck I've seen with THAT much corrosion is @Golgo13 ....That's that ugly North / Midwest / NE salt that eats EVERYTHING.

You need to do a search here for Fluid Film. Many posts and techniques.

Or buy one from CA, then use Fluid Film to keep it around......
Already got a case of fluid film, and actually the rust was worse on my jeep when I got it. Surprised that the frame, and under body are perfect. rust is only heavy in specific places, all things that can be taken off and replaced. I will need to find more local options for new fasteners, b/c any with salt exposure gets replaced. Ran to 2 hardware stores on Sunday to find stainless 10x1.25's to place diff cover studs and nuts. Everybody has tons of SAE, but only a smaller selection of Metric. It will work out fine, body is good, no rot, not even in the rockers. Thanks! oh, btw, that thing is gonna just get removed and recycled.

Criticism is always welcome, my skin is extremely thick. The rear extinguisher is just that, for the rear. I have others in the passenger compartment. My OCD is almost as bad as @NLXTACY ’s

Not a chance in hell. @NLXTACY is on a whole other level. I can’t wait to tell him about the latest typo I found on his website...

WTF? Really? Aren't the majority of US-made vehicles metric, these days?

Yep. The guy said they didn't do much automotive or metric stuff haha. I think my local branch just kinda sucks. It really is more construction oriented. Ace hardware had them though!

NO...DONT DO IT! The color you have is awesome!

Right now Joey aka @NLXTACY is speed reading through his entire website...

We already know what he will be doing with his 80 this weekend...

I hate you

The best part is that I’ve joked with you about this at least a dozen times but you never know if I’m serious! :moon:
