Well, we started out just getting a beach camping spot at Carlsbad State Beach. But after one night of just hanging out. Me and two of my Sons decided to head east to the desert. We went to a very cool spot in the very east end of San Diego County, a place called Smugglers Cave. Got off the 8 east highway, in a place called Ink-oh-Paw and started up the steep grade. We hit at least 3+ trails on the difficulty scale. We had a blast hitting the trails and shooting up the countryside. Never saw another soul except the boarder patrolman. We were buzzed by a boarder patrol helicopter , that was cool. It was the best trip yet. And Tituss, my FJ80, performed like a billygoat, full stock. Love this truck.

Those wheels fit without spacers?

Yep. The guy said they didn't do much automotive or metric stuff haha. I think my local branch just kinda sucks. It really is more construction oriented. Ace hardware had them though!
Found mine at ACE too, thing about ordering fasteners online is you need to know what size you will need, some replacements are obviously needed, others look good sometimes, but then they snap, I don't know the 80 that well at all yet. Just started learning the FSM, and it does not seem to specify sizes, or even the sizes of "SST's". That's a big value of the experience here. The FSM can tell you a lot, but real world experience of y'all fills in the important blanks.
Is it possible that one of you OCD mudaz actually listed them all in one place? It would be awesome, but a little nuts too, in a good way.

Most everything can be fixed with 10mm, 12mm, or 14mm wrenches and sockets. There are a few that will take an 8mm like the stereo screws, the fuel rails take a 17mm, head bolts need a 12mm 12 point socket, hub nuts are 54mm.

That should get you through most of your baselining, HG replacement, and Mud induced OCD.

I highly recommend hitting a junk yard. Find any Land Cruiser (or any Toyota for that matter) and take any bolts you can put you hands on. The first couple of times I did this I brought along a handful of different bolts from one of my 80s. Then grabbed anything I could find. My local yard let’s me just take whatever I grab.

While you are there you will find there are other things to grab. Switches, relays.

That is a great idea, here in the NE the pickings might be slim, we had a great junkyard area in Queens called the iron triangle, but real estate prices got the politicians to get rid of them to put up coops. Could get anything, multiple guys would run up to your car while driving to ask what you wanted. now nada.
Plan on making a road trip west this summer June or July for about 4 weeks, I could hit up yards in drier areas. Is there any particular place or massive yard known for good pickins? We could be anywhere from the Colorado Plateau to all points north. Undecided, but have not been to Glacier NP yet. Will be taking my diesel and truck camper so plenty of room for small parts.

Valley of the moon? You guys go into the old indian caves?

Lexus, sub was in the center console. And with the JL’s in the doors I haven’t missed a sub.

What JL set up are you running?

You seriously need to get out more often.
NorCal is full of beautiful places to visit. North of San Jose, Sonoma and Napa county, Sierra Nevada, Lake Tahoe area, Rubicon, Mt. Diablo is right in your back yard.

FIFY

Not a chance in hell. @NLXTACY is on a whole other level. I can’t wait to tell him about the latest typo I found on his website...
I tell him all the time. ;)

Oh, believe me, I get out and have visited anything and everything I can within Nor Cal. However, it always seems I have to travel for hours to get out into the wilderness. It seems the So Cal guys head East and within 10 mins you’re in Gods country....

That whole area is pretty awesome. A few years back there used to be this crazy guy living in a trailer right at the trail head. He had a ton of cages around his "house" and I think they were birds. Every time you'd drive by his place, he'd run out yelling at the top of his lungs with a shot gun in hand. Well, it happened to me 3 times in about 5 years. I finally asked a Border Patrol dude what was up with him, and he said..."Oh yeah, he's just crazy, don't ever stop...just keep driving". hah.
