Started my weekend (Friday afternoon counts, right?) by testing the load capacity of rear springs with 3 dozen palms and desert roses. Didn't seem to drop an inch.

Finally finished the thermozite install got all 4 seats back in. Quick tip, make sure to cut out areas around second seat mounting area/feet or reinstalling them will be near impossible.

I haven't been following the details on this. What's the deal with the Thermozite? Primarily a heat barrier? Sound deadener? both? What is the benefit of the Thermozite over something like Dynamat?

Thanks, now this song will be playing through my head the rest of the day

So far this morning I have pulled out the abs unit and the valve for the rear brakes. This is well documented and was a great mod to my brakes. I am getting ready to install yukon zip locker in the front and my part time kit so i figured I might as well get the abs out of the way. I am not feeling motivated enough to pull the axles and transfer case apart this weekend though lol. I would rather drink

Dynomat is a resonance deadener, it is good for that resonant tone from metal but it was not made for heat or other noise. Ideally you would add about 25-40% resonance deadener like Dynamat and then put a heat and noise barrier over it.

They work somewhat concurrently. Not necessarily an either or. Although the Thermozite has insulating properties to cut down noise. I went with just Thermozite because I a) wasn't going to spend the time and money putting in Dynamat b) don't mind a little noise in a 23 year old vehicle with 323k on it c) was more concerned about heat than noise d) I've never liked Dynamat.

Gotcha. Thanks.

Gotcha. Thanks.

Adam,

Its basically a padded sound and heat barrier. It comes single sided or dual foiled. I don't sell this, just like/recommend it.

Here's the spec sheet:

I would swap my green beast for a red beast any day in the week. The green is so dark it looks like black, which IS the worse color on an 80.
says who? ;)

Thermozite suppose to provide insolation and sound isolation, one side is aluminum foil so it suppose to reflect heat also. At the end of the day it's a sheet of aluminum with some fairly tight woven synthetic fibers. I hope it's as good as some people/review says.

I was on the freeway this morning the noise level is about the same but the 80 has way more noise from the side and top so just the bottom is probably not enough to make a big difference , I'm hoping that the center console doesn't get really hot on long drives.
