Ordered my sliders today from Metaltech. Right now they are 15% off through the end of August. Should be ready in about 2 weeks.

Ended up partially welding mine. screwing around with the crush rivets and drilling the frame was taking to long. Took half the time to just weld them on. I used the U-bolts on the backs of them, the 2 pre-threaded front bolts, and one big ass bolt through the middle foot, and welded the front feet and middle foot.

I don't really know why they only went with 2 legs on one side and 3 on the other? They both feel very stout. The feet themselves are quite large. Plus welding them makes me feel better.

Loaded up the Swank Tank for a solo trip in the Boundary Waters for a week.

when up over Stoney Pass, nice camping trip, excepted it rained from 6pm to 2am and the mountains got a little bit of snow.
we camped at 9800ft right next to the Rio Grande.

I had to put a new radiator in. The original started leaking from the DS end tank, right at the top. It wasn't too bad of a job, just a little messy. I put in a new Denso radiator even though it was almost twice the price of the cheapie.

I had the suspension shop put my sliders on while they had it. I dropped off Bilstein and opted to weld my Metaltech sliders on too.

Bilstein 5100s on the 2nd to highest perch w stock springs in front. Bilstein 5100s for an FJ w Metaltech conversion and ToyTec springs in back. Roughly 2".

I installed the suspension/lift today. Everything went pretty smooth other than the factory front coil overs being stuck in place. Took about 45 min with a sledge hammer and BF screwdriver to pop them out. I went with old man emu 885/N140S in front and 895/60004 in back. Tires are 275/70/17 ko2's on fn fx pro wheels. Here are a few pics right after I was done, I will get some better ones after I clean her up.

bare with me, just dabbling with the functions in this forum's interface. . . ;)

Drove it home! Just bought it....Houston purchase, 1,200 miles later back in Arizona. '08, 97K miles, TP done, 1 owner, non-Nav and Blizzard Pearl white. I'm like a little kid who just got exactly what he wanted for Christmas....

I10 West - local Texas DOT shut down the freeway so the utility company could pull and suspend a set of power lines across the freeway. I was the first in line getting stopped, we were there for about 30 minutes. Traffic backed up behind me about a mile by sight and as folks walked up wondering what was the reason for the stop, I was the natural expert since I was first in line. Actually had a damn good time talking with some of these truckers, good guys. Also learned a lot about Texas highway “do’s and don’t’s” from those guys which validated some observations/assumptions as well as probably kept me from getting pulled over later in the day (twice).

When the highway police let us pass through, I punched it. GX being fast, bottlenecked freeway behind me with slow semis clogging things, and absolutely zero traffic in front of me because of the freeway closure - I had all of I10 West to myself and completely devoid of traffic for nearly an hour. It was an awesome stretch of road, actually really pretty area and very scenic (Balmorhea, TX for reference).

I killed a raccoon yesterday morning at 7:12am, raining and dark and I was doing 80 mph - no chance I was doing anything dramatic to avoid that little dude (I did try) but he’s most definitely dead.

cya….
