Finally monstalined the gypsy. It was sticky messy, man! Took way to long to get to it, but we have had lots of rain in the past 2 weeks...

Looks great Joel!

Silver looks awesome. Looking good Joel.

Is that Bondo in the flare holes? How did you fill those?

Looks good, BTW...

It's Bondo, and I didn't sand it down enough, and after the bedliner you can see the Bondo underneath just a little bit… But it filled the holes really well, there were just a lot of them!

Thanks. It certainly seems that Bondo would be a lot easier than many of the other methods...

That's gonna be a clean 60, looking forward to wheeling with it!

Just messing around with it today. Got the rear tires on and put the body on the rotisserie. Had a roll over, lol. Hopefully this will be the only one.

We got the rear end on the FJ torn apart on Saturday. Sure enough the ring and pinion had seen better days. Gonna order parts this week and get this thing put back together. A BIG thank you to Ryan, Lee, Nik, and Bill for the help. Definitely made it a lot easier!

40 has been idling fair lately, but when it shot a flame out the carb last week that just didn't seem right. A little reading suggested timing was off 360*. So I found TDC, pulled distributor, rotated flywheel 360*, installed distributor. And BAM! Idling much better, and timing mark is rock solid. No longer jumping around all over the place. Idles like a champ, but when under load and driving, carb runs out of gas. Pump not pumping. Gas tank vent issue? Need to try a test drive without the gas cap and see what happens. As well as check the vapor lines and canister. Ordered new OE gas cap. (Mine has seen better days.) Early test drives were successful after the new gas tank. But I had left the gas cap off for a while. Thinking that is why it drove fine before, and now runs out of fuel with gas cap On.

Also ordered new PCV. So close to getting on the road I can taste it. It tastes like exhaust fumes from the leaking manifold, but still....so close. RemFlex manifold gasket will be delivered any day now.

Taking way too long to get where I'm at. But I don't get a lot of time to work on it with the wife working nights and taking care of the kiddos. But I think there is a light at the end of this tunnel. My future's so bright, I gotta wear shades.

Sweet, things could be worse. I've been working on mine for about two and a half years now. Like you, I am getting close Andy. Hang in there buddy, it's gonna be worth it.
