What Coolant do you us?

Hello All,

I'll be doing my timing belt once the weather warms in Chicago. I'm coming from the land Rover world and the bad word is dex-cool when it comes to coolant. Do people run coolant other than toyota coolant and if so which is the best for this truck?

Why not use the Toyota coolant? Doesn't the owners manual specify what to use? I don't think 100s are as particular as Land Rovers. No Sea Foaming required.

Because it a heck of a lot more convenient to walk into the local auto parts store. I'm assuming it is made by one of the major coolant companies or maybe not??

I use Toyota Red on everything. Including my Disco1.

The consensus on the 80-section was to use whatever kind of coolant existed and was recommended when your truck was built. Not to mix coolant types and when in doubt use what Toyota recommends.

That being said, I have no idea what kind of coolant is in mine. Whatever the independent shop used when they did the 90k.

The manual calls out Toyota or equivalent. Looks like most do use Toyota coolant.

Toyota Red = Peace of Mind. I Also Use Toyota WS Fluid in the Trans.

Yep. A little more expensive, but with the peace of mind. How many overheating issues do you hear about on UZJ's? Exactly...
