I've tried seven colors and I'm not happy with any of them.

Three Rustoleum blues
Three Duplicolor metalic blues
One light green matte (camo)

So - any suggestions...there are a few requirements.

1) It has to be available in a rattle can.
2) It has to be less than $5 a can - I don't want to buy $10 cans.

I'm considering a matte color but haven't found any matte blues in rattle cans.

What does everyone thing about Rustoleum Canvas White for the stock white (which I am very happy with) and matte dark camo green for the lower area where my Pig is now blue? One concern is that the white is glossy and the green would be a matte. The glossy blues just show too much of the body damage and look BAD.

Any ideas? I need some suggestions quick!

I don't have anything helpful to contribute, but I've been looking for a cheap flat blue in a rattle can as well, and I have been unsuccessful so far. I totally agree with you on the "$10 can thing". To me, that defeats the purpose of the rattle can paint job. I suppose I'll just have to lie in wait, watching this thread until someone posts up something helpful about a flat blue in a can.

Auto zone has a really good selection of rattle can paints and nothing more than like 3 or 4 bucks a can. Have you spent some time in there looking at the selection?

PS you cant buy paint in the am, that isnt a household necessity, they are called blue laws, this state sucks.

I've checked out Lowes, Home Depot (its been awhile), Advance, Wally World and Sherwin Williams. I'll have to try an Auto Zone.

I'm pretty disappointed in your response Richard. I thought you would suggest Durabak!

I think I may end up going with Krylon's "peekaboo blue" on my 40. It seems relatively close to Toyota's 808. I'll be interested to see how your rattle can job turns out. You can't really go wrong with Olive Drab.

I'll look at some of the Krylon colors. I haven't payed them too much attention yet. I'm worried that I won't be happy with any glossy color to replace my current blue. If I could find a matte or semi-gloss blue that might be the ticket.

I've looked at the Ace Safety Blue. Another guy on the forum (I can't remember his SN but he has a thread in the Paint and Body section I think) used Ace Safety Blue on his 40 and he really liked it. I went to an Ace store and they didn't have any of that color. I'll see if I can find some during the week. Probably though if I get my hands on some olive drab then its all over. I can always repaint.

I was looking for someone to jump up and say "DONT DO IT" or "DO IT" of course anyone who says to do it probably just egging me on! :D

HOW ABOUT THE SAFARI LOOK!

Zebra stripes and Ah kin halp!

I don't think so Mr. Cuban. :grinpimp:

Home Depot has Rustoleum Flat Camo. I used it to paint the heater in the pig (almost a perfect match to stock). They have other colors too. VERY flat, non-reflective, and about $3.50 or so per can. I got Deep Forest Green. It's prett dark though, might want to go with "Army Green."

That looks sweet, Im getting the 40 painted hopefully this week but against my better judgement im taking it to maaco. I probably should just rattle can it.

What has Maaco quoted you? I thought about going there but w/ a two-tone paint job I figured it would be out of my price range. I also wanted something that I could tough up with readily available spray paint. I think it will end up costing me about $150 to paint my truck after you figure in paint needed to spray it, tape, tack cloths, sand paper, sanding block, scotchbrite pads, mineral spirits, etc...and don't forget the EIGHT colors I bought and am not using...

If you are doing one color and know the color you want you should be able to paint a 40 for under 50 bucks and in less than a day. I'll even give you a hand if you want.

You need to keep the blue man, olive drab is just a cop out for not using a real color. Besides pigs didnt come in olive drab show some respect to the piggie. :flipoff2:

Olive drab to sea foam isnt even close, thats like painting it pink and saying its a shade of red. Durabak is functionality.

ODG is functional - scratch it and I can hit it with a squirt of paint and its back to good! You know...I could put a coat of bedliner on the lower panels of my Pig...hmm.....

Hey now, I thought about pink for about 10 seconds. Pink piggy with a big sticker on the hood and doors...
