Let's see pics of your bike racks. What are you guys using? How do you like it? What options are out there so I can still get into the cargo area while carrying 2 mountain bikes?

I'm used to a truck, so this is new territory. I want to be able to get into the rear cargo area and carry a spare tire back there as well.
-Would the JW offroad tire carrier and some sort of swing-away bike rack work? I'm not convinced of the strength of the JW, but it looks amazing, and I haven't seen anyone with issues thus far.
-Would an all in one package like RigD UltraSwing with a 1UP or Kuat bike rack be better?

A swing-away bumper would be nice, but I don't like the options out there right now and like the ability to look stock-ish with the JW carrier or go completely to stock with the RigD UltraSwing.

I think 1UP makes a better rack than Kuat but regardless those are the best options on the market.

I have a 1up single rack and a Yakima Hangover rack. I don't keep them permanently mounted.

The 1up single is perfect if you have the heavy duty tow hitch (and no spare). It will fold up and the back door will clear.

With a Wilco swing out, the 1up worked without an extension, But the bike was a tight fit against the tire.
I did not attempt mounting the heavy Yakima rack to the Wilco.

I now have the JW carrier. I have used both racks with a hitch extension with success.
I will eventually get a swing out for the bike racks.

I was set on 1UP + swing away for the longest time but I picked up a Rocky Mounts Backstage instead for a little under $500 shipped. I love it. I've had Yakima and Thule trays before and I feel this one is much better in quality. It has a lifetime warranty and it clears the bumper when fully extended and locked. A locking hitch pin and a second lock + security cable are included.

Looks pretty good. I wonder if there would be any interference with the JW carrier.

I thought we were just showing off our swing away racks. Oops.

My bike has 800mm bars and the grip is about 6 inches from the rear glass when the bike sits on the inside tray. It most likely will not work with the JW without a hitch extension.

Edit: Even with the hitch extension, there's a chance you could smack the bikes when you open the rear with the JW since the rack is just being extended backwards.

I got a a rocky mounts splitrail on sale for Memorial Day. Seems like a great rack but because of the swinging door it can only be opened with the bike removed and the rack tilted down.

Anyone use the Kuat Pivot or have a Velocirax? These also seem like contenders

1Up and Kuat are neck and neck IMHO.

Hey @Littlehouse I took a few picture with my Kuat rack. I've had it for about 4 years and it's still in great shape. I took a few pictures to show what kind of clearance you get with the stock hitch. I'm not sure if you would be able to fit the rack with a JW Offroad tire carrier due to the pedals. If you're willing to remove the pedals when you need to have 2 bikes loaded then I think it would work.
I love that it has a sturdy hitch mount. You can crank a knob that let's you tighten the rack so it doesn't wobble. The reason I chose the Kuat over a Thule or Yakima rack was because of the attached bike stand. I've used it numerous times for trail side repairs, last minute adjustments, and working on the bike at home.

If I had to do it again, I would choose the 1Up rack. I love the simple, clean and utilitarian look to it. The Kuat would be a close second.

Great pics! Thanks for posting. Any issues with not having a swing away?

Well, I finally got my 1UP Dual Super Duty. Damn this thing is a work of art. I think I'll pick up a RakAttach to make loading and unloading the pups easier when we take them Bikejoring. I'll put up some pics when I set it up.

So, I can finally close this out as I have something that works. 1up Super Duty rack and the medium Rackattach. Just threw it in the hitch before total assembly to see if it works, and it’s perfect. Door opens 100% of the way with no interference. This set up adds quite a but of length so I’ll probably only use it when the dogs are with us or we need stuff out of the back.

If you had the bike flipped around, would there be enough clearance between the door and the handlebars while open?
