Hi a friend of mine in a neighboring shop is throwing around ideas of starting to build production tube trailers. I wanted to do something like this in the past and we are going to team up on the build.

What do you guys think of this? Following the lines of most of the other trailers out there and using a base plan that can have numerous optional upgrades off of it.

We were thinking 2 inch for the frame and 1 1/2 tube for the sides then filled in with either diamond plate or aluminum.

Any ideas or pics would be great.

Thanks,
Scott

Also what do you guys look for in a trailer? If you were to buy one that is.

As far as size, tire size, hitch style, material, what you would like to be able to store, weight capacity, etc etc etc

Why don't you put your concept out there and let the guys comment on it? :hhmm:

Good luck

Pat

Well we got started on the build yesterday so look out for a new build thread in the next couple days.

Just out of curiosity...what is a "tube" trailer...or do you mean tub? ;p

Thanks,

Pat

Tube as in 2 inch tube and 1 1/2 inch tube for the bones of the trailer. Instead of the usual box steel. Just a different design that we have yet to see others use.

It looks great so far, just have to upload the pics.

Tubes (round) are cool until you have to attach sheet metal to them. If you are looking for water-tight, and dust free (I was) then round tubes over square tubes get the short end of the stick everytime.

Just .02

That was a concern of mine, but The fab shop next door will roll the panels for us to give a snug fit. So we should be good there.

Great looking trailer...similar to my build, minus the cruiser top and doors. He did an excellent job!
