4 rims in great shape, the standard rims that come on a 2000 LC, Great shape and has the LTX tires, 2 maybe 7-10K miles left and 2 with maybe 3K miles life left (so yes tires are almost gone but some life left) was thinking of buying some new rims and tires (the 18's from the newer LC's) and wondering if my old stock rims are in good shape and no road rash what they maybe worth to someone maybe if I sold them on ebay? 200-300-400? Thanks all
Steve

Steve I was watching a set of lx rims on ebay for use as a 2nd set. They were the 16's in good shape and sold for $230 plus $80 shipping. I didn't buy them b/c I still haven't convinced the wife that this and tires is a perfectly logical birthday present for me. :D

$200 to $300 is the going rate. the dead tires are going to reduce that value though. nobody wants to pay for shipping on four heavy tires that have little to zero value. so that forcoes you to pay $5 to $10 per wheel to dismount and dispose.

keep in mind that the 18's are going to really limit your choices in tires (on and offroad and expecially snows). plus everyone here is going to make fun of your blinged up wheel/tire combo :flipoff2:

here they are what do you think, are these tires OK? I need new tires which i know will end up costing me 500 and then if I can get 300 for my old rims thats 800, if I just took that 800 and put it towards this set for 1100 I would only be out of pocket 300 bucks and have (what I think) is a smooth looking (NOT bling Bling:) set up... they are not chrome. What do you think?
I live in Ma. Boston area if anyone knows any takers...

here is the description of what I am looking at and ebay link, curious your thoughts?

wouldn't that math be: $950 for new rims + ~$800 for new tires = $1750 - $300 (old rims) = $1450 out of pocket?

Did anyone even address the spare?

No is 950 for rims and tires and 150 shipping thats 1100.

I need new tires that 500

sell my old rims for 300

that 500 I would have spent on new tires I need anayway, plus 300 I get for old rims and then add in 300 and I get this new set up.. 500+300+300 = 1100

spare..... hmmm would keep the old spare and hope it was able to get me home from any place I was forced to use it....

I might be interested in the wheels if you sell them............heck I have no 100 series spare parts ;)

The tires on the e-bay rims are a little bigger than stock. 32" diameter, to be exact. Your stock spare is 31" diameter. Your Cruiser will not like you if you ran different sized tires at the same time.

Aren't your old tires 16" and the ebay specials 18"?

You can't drive home on 3 new 18" wheels and 1 old 16" spare if you get a flat, especially if your as money conscious as you seem to be. The last time I checked, transfer cases where about 3 times the amount that you want to spend of bling, bling tires and rims.

Just food for thought, it's your deal. BTW no matter how you cut it, $1100 - $300 is $800 out of pocket expense.

You do scary math just like my wife.

I just sold my stock 99 LC wheels with no tires in great shape for $160 plus $100 ship via ebay, thought they would go higher, but lots of similar wheels up for sale.

As long as the tires on the 18's and the one on the 16" spare are the same diameter, then the cruiser won't be hurt.

You’re making an assumption that this little fact will be thought out beforehand, when the guy in the first place didn’t even think about the spare situation, much less that 18” and 16” tires generally don’t match.

Do you think that we should also warn him about different tire sizes and locking that diff? :crybaby:

We are talking about a spare. To be used "sparingly." He is talking about buying 4 18" wheels and tires and only using the 16 as a spare. The 18 inch tires he is looking at getting are 255/70/18 which measures out at 32.1x10/18 while I know my spare is a 275/75/16 measuring out at 32.2x10.8/16. While I do acknowledge that some cruisers came with 275/70/16s, I am talking about the size of my spare. The transfer case would barely know the difference as far as tire size. We are talking about .1. That would be the equivalent of a low tire. And in emergencies, would not hurt the transfer case. And to not assume he had the same size spare as me, I gave the advice to make sure the tires are the same diameter.
