I have looked at a few other cruizers and have not seen what exactly I am missing. I have a 72 but it is different. This is my 1969 fj40. What am I missing? It seems like a nut of some sort should attach. Possibly a Castle nut.

That is not your front suspension; it is your steering bell crank assembly, and yes, it appears your castle nut is missing.

I would not operate the vehicle until you get that replaced.

At least not down any canyon roads at a high rate of speed. ;)

I've never seen an early center arm like that. Only the ones with the spring loaded friction cones which always seemed like a bad design to me.

Does this one have any lateral play in it?

Will Not Operate Soon

Rest assured I am not operating vehicle like this. However, I do thank you for the advice. Hopefully I will be able to operate sometime in 2009. I just send out the body to be sandblasted and the motor is in the machine shop.

I dont know if it has any play at all

I just bought my 1969 FJ40 a couple of months ago. It had been sitting for 20 years. First thing I did was start tearing it apart. FJ40 Painted Frame H8.webp
