I need to get something asap so Alcan is out and I don't like the goofy web strategy of BDS (publish yer dang prices already).

So the dakar kit and the HFS kit are my contenders. Now I know this has been disscussed before and I have even read through nearly every thread I could find on the subject, but since everybody like to kick dead horses here we go.

Any reason you would NOT buy one of the above listed kits?

Best, shipped, price on either kit recently?

And of course the "OMG ur teh stoopid cause kit XYZ is the hotness" comments :flipoff2:

Thanks!

just some FYI....
MAF has a track record of "in-stock" items suddenly being back ordered, and not telling you untill you call a few days later, looking for them.
"STEVE-O" on this board if from MAF. if you have a problem, contact him. he is very helpful.

I just put my OME on the diesel 60.... I've really missed it. The difference is amazing. You'll be happy.

Dakar

I got mine (Dakar) through MAF, no problems shipped and sent in 10 days and I'm in Maryland.

I went with the med(frt) heavy (rear) and it is working great with the caveat that I have 1/4" steel bumpers, tire carrier and I carry about 200lbs of stuff with me everywhere.

Yeah, I've seen that. But my options were not really getting better with each shop called. The sales rep gave me his line to call tomorrow for the shipping number, so here's to thinking positive....

Just in case you havent called in yet, the order left last night. You should see it Thusday or Friday at the latest. Thanks for choosing Man-A-Fre!

Interestingly- I'm really noticing the stiffness in the rear right now of my hj60. I've got OME heavies. Too heavy. Soon I'll transfer the roofrack over, which should help some, but I just wanted to remind folks that on a stock wagon the heavy suspension is probably too heavy. I guess I'll have to move the big ass rear bumper over, which I don't really want to do, but I also don't want backseat passengers to lose their fillings...

thumbs up to you guys steve-o.

you guys have taken great care of me in the past.

bought everything from MAF to build my 40 motor. :D

2badfjs & import silvia, thanks for the great compliments. I do try hard to keep our customers happy, I love hearing feedback!

sandcruiser, I would suggest removing the 3rd leaf from the top, this will make the ride softer and lower the rear slightly to get rid of the stinkbug. When OME describes the springs as heavy, they mean heavy!!

I just put OME leaves in my (diesel) 60 and the ride is great. a definate improvement from what it was - stock with added leaves, one of which was bent to buggery (it was stock height on one side, with a 3 inch on the other) I didn't get the heavy duty springs, but the rear still sits higher, and i rekon would take some decent weight.

So whats the best set up for a stock cruiser, that may get some home made front and rear bumpers, but nothing to heavy. Maybe a roof rack later as well, but nothing to crazy in weight. Mine is more of a Daily driver with some beach action every now and then.

Steve-o, should I get the medium set up all around? or what would you suggest?

Thanks James

I usually suggest Medium for most of the vehicle out there, its strong enough to support some weight, and firm enough to have a nice ride. Although, a lot of people really like a squishy ride, and other people prefer a firm ride.

Softer (light duty) flexes better, but increases body roll around tight turns, and takes longer for the suspension to recover to normal ride height. Firmer (heavy duty) rides stiffer, so you feel every bump, but handles much better, and returns to normal ride height much quicker. Choice is up to you, for me however, I like medium for leaf sprung vehicles, and heavy for coil sprung vehicles. I always like heavy shocks for either.

What about the idea of moving that 3rd leaf from the rear to the front? I need some more support up there for when I swap over the bullbar and winch...

Anybody tried it?
