Uh... Any tips for a guy who's oldest vehicle ever was a 96 80 series?
It'll take some getting used to..

Good idea... I wanted something that I wouldn't have to throw money at out of every paycheck..
I am starting the same adventure tomorrow. Just sold my Honda Accord DD today, and am going to start officially daily driving my '82 FJ40 beginning tomorrow. The commute isn't too long (just under 17 mi each way), and I finally decided I would rather spend the money I was dropping on the Accord car payment on continuing to improve my Cruiser. Backup plan is the wife's vehicle if she isn't running the little one's around, or bike it (I've done it a few times; it's not as bad as it sounds). AAA membership is up to date in the event I need to tow it home. I've spent the past couple years doing things to the Cruiser to get it working fairly well, and this will give me the motivation to keep addressing all the other little things to get it dialed in. Plus, the 40 is so darn fun to drive.
I think this is the one he is talking about from his wanted post

Seems like a long way to drive for one like that if that is it. They come up in Miami and Tampa often. You will love it no matter and the drive will just be a fun adventure. You do not need AC in FL. In order for AC to work you would need the top on and that will be a rare thing. My cj8 has not had the top on in 3 years and we drive it all the time and my fj40's once on the road will likely be the same.
I am not sure what all the wimps are talking about, these drive like a sports car, take it from me who has mostly just driven beatup old 4x4's and the wifes car.
Nice looking cruiser!
I'll need to paint it really soon after I get it. As in <week. It's two different colors, plus some camo.
Your paint isn't original is it? Where did you do it? What did it cost ya? (If you don't mind me asking)
