I went with HFS. I bought everything but their shocks. What would be the better shock to get? Bilstein or OME? I was told by MAF that unless I get the Bilstein 7100 the OME is the better shock.

You'll like the HFS ride. Go with Bilstein. 5100 series is an excellent shock and should be more than adequate for your purposes. If I'm not mistaken the 7100 series has a remote reservoir and is extremely pricey, like $170 or so per shock.

Just my .02, YMMV.

I was told by MAF they would be. They would be about $60 more. I guess the best steering stabilizer would be OME since Bilstein doesn't have any.

Old Man Emu shocks are $60 more than what? Bilstein 5100's? I doubt it. Not to beat this to death since it's an individual decision, but IMO Bilstein makes a bulletproof shock that will easily outlast OME's (which I think are still made for OME by Monroe). You can buy Billys in a variety of lengths, and they carry a lifetime warranty. The guys at MAF don't much like Bilsteins, but IMO they're first rate gear. Lots of threads here on the 5100 series.

If you don't want to spend the dough for Bilsteins, check out Deutsch Tech. Off Road Truck Racing and Automative Suspension Lift and Lowering Kits Very high quality shocks available in any length you might need, and lots of satisfied users here on MUD.

YESSSSS !!!!!!! We have a winner!!

I'd rather spend the extra $100 for the Bilsteins. I just need to figure out which length to get. I plan on getting the 5125. Why? I don't know just have heard a lot of good things on the 5125.

bbq boy, i forgot to ask, how did your wife react to you making your rig into a hooker?
my rigs gonna be a 10 cent hooker when i get done with her!

She didn't like it. I told her I had a wife at home and needed something on the side.

Totally off topic, but it's dinner time and your avatar is driving me nuts. Aren't you in South Carolina? Do you know of Bessinger's BBQ in Charleston? Best I've had, outside of Texas :p

Really? You run an excellent operation. I've probably dropped enough $$$ in your place to pay for several Cruiser suspensions. Don't get out there much any more but I still salivate when thinking about that buffet.

Just buy a steering stabilizer from Napa. You don't have to spend a lot of money on a s/s. Good to hear you went with the 4". Enjoy.

Later,

X2 on not worrying about an OME steering stabilizer. It isn't like you are going to have shock fade on your s/s. Any brand should work fine.

I went with the Bilstein 5125s on my 4" lift. I have 1.75" extended shackles. I really like my shocks - no complaints.

This will at least give you a starting point for the Bilstein shocks. Bilstein -check here for all the lengths. The shocks I went with are:

BE5-6248-H5 for the rear - 25.93" extended and 15.91 compressed. Travel of 10.17".

BE5-6253-H5 for the front - 22.5" extended and 14.06 compressed. Travel of 8.6"

As always, it is best to measure you suspension before ordering to make sure you get exactly what you need.

By the way, I think you made the right move with ordering the 4" lift.

Why is that? I'm having buyers remorse. Make me feel better. i almost feel I should have chosen the OME.
