I lived on Carson off and on in 03 (Salad years)... Worked in the contract world for a spell too. Great PIG..!!!!!!!!! What color combo are you leaning toward?

Skimming through 19 pages when I should be working, but what the heck, customers can wait a few more hours.
I was a four year Coastie, joined in August 1973 after the summer of fun. Was still 17 until October. Went to AD school in Elizabeth City N.C. and then off to Kodiak Island for two years. That is where I found what was already named "Sammie". A 1969 FJ40 belonging to Ken. Ken left and Sammie stayed with me until I left in the summer of 1976 and drove her to North Carolina in 11 days with a few stops along the way. Next station was Cape Cod and was there till I left the service in 1977. Bought a 1976 while I was up there, but sold it before returning to North Carolina.. Brought the '69 back home, but at some point got stupid and sold it in the early '80's.
Met my "going to be new wife", (is Now) and soon after found another love as in a 1982 FJ40. I have had it since 1987 and it has had it's moments.
Turning 60 this year and makes you think of what has happened and what the future will bring.

My dad was one of 13 children of my grandmother, he had 6 brothers, and all, including him, were in one branch or another of the military during WWII. Back then stars were put in the window, if you had a son in the service. Very few passed by her house and not stop seeing 7 stars in the window. Everyone made it home safe.

Thanks for the welcomes. At some point I would like to show pictures of my '82, but at the moment, it is garaged and caged in by a no working Volvo getting ready for the salvage yard.
Was trying to catch up on the TBI post, but had to end up working some yesterday. Got a few things to add. Been somewhat down that road, and my brother-in-law is riding that wave right now.
@pngunme The 50's are only lasting 26 more days, but I am thrilled to make it into the 60's. (If I do) I do drive in Charlotte traffic most every day.

Vet-to-be in San Diego (22 years Navy). Electrician's Mate turned ship driver in 2004 and punching the clock in December. Hope to get back up to the PNW soon after.

Thanks. It's getting close. That pic was after I drug it 9 hrs back from my friend's fab shop. Wiring and brake plumbing, and it should be ready to scoot down the road.

Yes, sir, you do. It will be primer with a touch of surface rust until it gets driven for a while. Then, it may get a little rattle can.

Here's a shot of the stance from the front with the bib and hood mocked up. There is still a lot of work to do to get it completely together, but it should be road worthy soon. Can't wait to drive the damn thing...been a long time coming!

Picked it up in 2011 and let it sit 3 years while away on duty. Had it drug up to my friend's shop last year for fab work as time permitted while I was deployed. Got it back a few months ago, and the kid and I have been plugging away as we can. So, about 4 years...
