Welcome!

My daughter is a graphic designer at GTM in Manhattan. Small world!

@dangerclose11b , Hi Chad. Welcome to the highway. Thanks for your service.

Welcome Chad, thanks for serving.

I'm embarrassed to say this, but I just found this forum. I have been a member on the 80 board since 2003 and usually just go straight to it. Anyway, my name is Wayne and I'm a Marine (retired, 1963-83). I was seventeen on 02 OCT 1963 and enlisted (with parental consent) in the Marines on the 3rd, and was at MCRD Parris Island, SC on the 5th for boot camp. I held a number of MOS's, aircraft mechanic (F4 Phantom II, Chu Lai, RVN 1968-69), career planner, drill instructor, substance abuse counselor, and an infantry rifle company 1stSgt (I Co, 3/1, 1st MarDiv, Camp Pendleton, CA. I still miss my Marines after all these years.

I bought my '96 80 Series Cruiser in 2003 and have performed all the maintenance on it so far. It's basically stock except for a few superficial mods. Of course it's emerald green. I'll post some pics soon.

Semper Fidelis

@Wayne , Hi Wayne. Welcome to the highway. Thanks for your service.

@dangerclose11b welcome my fellow groundpounder. Good to see there are more Infantry around!

Thanks for everyone's greeting. I look forward to participating in this forum.

Ahoy Shipmates! I retired after serving from 79 to 2004 in the USN. I was a Chief Boiler Technician. Served on Many Ships, Both coasts and Japan. It was a wild ride. Now I am Living in South west Florida and turning wrenches most of the time. I don't know how I didn't know about this thread before? Wayne, I am still gonna call you one of these days.... :) I want to thank all the other vests and say, Have a fine Navy Day!

Welcome Shawn. This is good place for veterans to share with people that get it, more and more good things are posted here as time goes on.

@shawnfj40 , Hi Shawn, welcome to the highway. Thanks for your service. I hope a fine Navy Day is better the some of the days I had in the Army. I had some really sucky days back then.

Larry in El Paso

X2 Fellas, welcome!

Shawn, great seeing your post here and welcome to the Veterans Highway. I'm new here myself, so here we are two new guys just "checking in."

Hey guys, add me to the embarrassed list for not knowing about the vet's hwy until today. Been on IH8Tmud for years. I've been reading all your stories, and they're great to read and God Bless you all. I served as a grunt medic from 76 to79 at Ft. Lewis WA. Found out how little I could do after an army jeep roll over, and went through paramedic training while on active duty. Got out of the Army, went to college, got a scholarship to Loyola Medical School through the Air Force, and went back into the service as a physician. It's been one big adventure, and I hope it never ends. I got my 1st fj40 in chicago while in med school in '88, and hauled 2 tons worth of household back to California with it. 40 mph over the wasatch and sierras, but it got us here. that vehicle has become my trail rig seen at left. I also have a 78 '40 with 67k miles...all stock, garage queen.

Anyways, thank you all for your service and the great posts!
