We put 2 1/2 ton ring and mounted one of our 50s in the back of our 4 seater, one mission gunner was shooting, barrel 3-4" over my head as I rode right rear on a SAW mounted on home made swivel I couldn't hear for two days and that was just a damn 50. Damn things will screw your guts up too.

1987 - 1991 USAF Communications and Navigational Systems Specialist (long name = airborne radio / radar guy).
After my few weeks at Lackland AFB, I went to Tech. School in Biloxi, MS... yes, it does snow in Mississippi and yes, it is "Africa Hot". While in Tech school, I played percussion with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. 7 months later - stationed in SoCal just outside Riverside. I worked avionics and as the occasional crew chief on KC-10As. March AFB was my one and only duty station. TDY = Beale AFB (mulitple nights in a shack at the end of the runway listening to U2s do touch and go's), Hawaii (in and out), Guam (multiple trips), Okinawa, Japan (multiple trips), Korea, Panama City (multiple trips), Rein Mein Germany, Ramstein Germany, Somewhere in Spain, North Carolina, Travis AFB, uh... not sure, but there may be more...
Like most boys of the late '60s and '70s, I wanted to be an Astronaut. My plan was to go in enlisted and pay for my college so that I could go back in as an officer / pilot. After finding out that my hearing would not allow me to become a USAF pilot, I ended my military carrier after 4 short years, but later in life I found that those short years were the best job I have ever had!
I got out and got job in the "real" world. I promptly tried to get back in... in 1991, they were not allowing any prior service to re-join. I ended up working in SoCal at a small municipal agency as a gardener. Yep, I went from working on multi-million dollar planes to cutting weeds. Large weeds though... 1 tumbleweed filled the back of my dump truck.
2 years later, and a wife and two boys... I went to work for the City of San Bernardino as their one and only Instrumentation Technician. (I was the only candidate who knew what PLC meant.) While working full time, on-call every other week, with a wife and two kids, I went back to school and got my BS in Electronics through Southern Illinois University... at March, AFB... in SoCal. Yeah, no one really believes that...
Engineering - My first job in engineering was for a small OEM in Wisconsin, making bulk palletizers and de-palletizers for the "empty container industry". (I had finally escaped wastewater!) Within the first 12 months, we went through 3 VPs of engineering and 3 managers of electrical engineering. I quit just before it was sold and we moved back to SoCal.
1st job available... consulting engineering.... in wastewater.... yeah... but it paid the bills. 3 years later we moved to Boise, ID. This has been home ever since.
I now have 4 kids, with my two boys both currently serving. Alex - USAF and Mitch - USArmy. I am very proud of them both.
Oh, yeah.. Cruisers... My first is my 2002 100 series, which my oldest daughter now drives. My second was my '95 80 series, which my youngest son now owns. And... my new to me this year 2010 LX-570, which is now my daily driver.

My name is Ron Terwilliger. I was US Army. Now I am broken and a disabled veteran. I was EOD, but ended up training SOF's in construction techniques and other fun stuff. I also spent a decade and a half doing vehicle specialty installations pre and post Army. I was a master certified MECP technician. So I can wire stuff, but still haven't learned to weld. I got a 97 lx450 last summer and have been trying to get it going. I also work at the local VA, so if there's something I can help with let me know.

9-year Navy Vet. I was an aircrewman in P-3C aircraft. I spend my two years of training in Pensacola and Jax Florida, I think did about 5 years on MCBH in Hawaii where I complete 3 tours, spending about 14 months boots on deck in Iraq and several other months in various other parts of the world. I finished up with 2+ years in Okinawa supported deployed squadrons.
I wish I owned a LC, I dont do enough off-roading (yet) to justify having one. I DD mine in the crappy Ohio months so the decent mpg I get in my 2000 T4R will suffice.

@LCHardriver_02 what do you think of that Lance travel trailer? I have a Lance 1121 truck camper, it is getting a little tight now that my kids are growing up, looking for feedback on some other types of campers now.

We love our Lance 2185. I was very cautious buying a trailer that my 100 series could tow, but had enough room (dedicated sleeping space) for all 4 of our kids. This limited the search WAY down! I wish it had a dedicated space for the "master" bed, as I need more thickness in the mattress and wonder whether a pillow top will still allow it to fold away during the day. I think we will still be buying a foam type topper to give me some extra padding. I tend to wake up in the middle of the night hurting in my hips or shoulders. FYI, both of my shoulders have been dislocated multiple times, so they tend to bother me.
As with any travel trailer, we see loosened screws fairly frequently and other little non-sense, but nothing dramatic. Overall we love it. We were just talking about getting out sometime soon... Just need the snow to go away a bit...
Oh, and we added a solar panel right from the start. I would highly recommend this if you do very much boon docking. This is typically how we camp, so having a way to maintain our batteries was very high on my priorities. Oh, and I just upgraded to a pair of 7gal. propane tanks too. Early Spring or Fall can get pretty cold here, so having that little bit extra is nice.
