I have this weird hesitation while accelarating . It happened before and was anoying but now it got far worse. It feels like its missfiring just between 1800 to 2500 rpm.

So here's what i did on my rig last month

-spark plug, wire set, plugs , cap and rotor
-timming chain and tensionner
-power steering pump
-Fix a oïl leak on my valvle cover while changing gaskets
-Gas cable replaced
-(now broke as :censor:)

I suspected the maf sensor so i cleaned it with brake cleaner, but stil does the same problem.

Whats also weird is that the check engine light is not on
so its very hard to make a proper diagnostic.

Is there anyone that replace a maf sensor with this kind of issue ? Should i replace all injectors ?

Anyway im lost here and sick of this never ending story to try to get this vehicle back in shape:mad:

Maybe a silly question, but does your check engine light work? I think it should come on momentarily when you turn the key to "on" before starting.

Vacuum leak? If a hose is cracked and falling apart, that could explain why it is getting worse.

The check engine light works and all vacuum hoses were replaced

Check engine lights are just OBD2 - right? You don't state, but I'm going to ASSUME 1FZ-FE motor - check your TPS for corrosion/dead spots with an ohmmeter?

What is the year/make/model/engine?

Simple things first: Toyota plug wires or aftermarket? Are they all attached and in the right place? Maybe a cracked spark plug? Did you drop a plug on the floor or have a tough time installing one plug that the wrench was at an angle?

Does it feel like it will cough back through the intake manifold? My first thought was that the timing is not right. It is possible to be off one tooth on the timing chain. What you describe appears to be retarded timing.

Did the problem exist before all the work? When you were in there, did you check the timing marks to make sure the two cams were timed correctly to each other?

Did the distributor get moved , pulled, or changed during this procedure? You may have to baseline your timing again (start over from TDC on the power stroke, check your timing chain, check both cams, and check distributor.)

The year is 1996 and it has the 1fz-fe

Wires are new from NGK with oem plugs (none were dropped on the floor)
Yes it feels like it goes back in the manifold. But i am sure im not off on my gears

But i was not carefull with the distributor it might have mooved when reinstaling . I noticed
that the bolt that secure the distributor is oval wich to my guess allow a certain setting for timing

I never used a timing light ..... I serch on mud for similar problem and my wiring harness is fine nest to the egr and also in glove compartiment
