I recently put a 32/36 weber carb on my '71 FJ40. I have the original F engine, but its been rebuilt, bored 30 over with headers and has an electronic distributor. My rig is having trouble idling. I've replaced the size 60 primary jet with a 70 and it will idle now but only with the idling speed screw all the way in. The idling mixture screw is also out 2 turns, but it doesn't seem to been running rich. I've checked for vaccum leaks and there doesn't appear to be any.

Any ideas on what else could be the problem or what I can do to correct the problem?--Thanks

Howdy! Have you tried turning the idle mix screw out farther? I don't know squat about webers, but most carbs I have worked on the mix screw ended up 2.5 - 3 turns out, one turn being 360 degrees on the screw. I say that because I have had major debates with several friends about "one turn" not being just 180 degrees. If your not blowing black smoke at idle now, then you are probably not too rich. Could still be a vacuum leak. John
