Feel silly asking, but searched and couldn't find the answer.

I just received WeatherTech DigitalFit Floor mats (cargo liner, front mats, and second row mat as well as side window deflectors).

Cargo liner is fine, only peave is that there's no built in hole for the D rings and I do use them.

Second row, I see what people mean about the edge being a nuisance.

Front row - driver's side carpet has 2 retainer clips, and both were used in the OEM mats. Same with Passenger side. However, the Weathertech driver's side only uses one of the retainer clips, and the passenger side doesn't use either. Is this by design or am I supposed to cut a hole? Do I need to take out the unused clips or just leave them under the mat? I know a ton of you out there have these mats so I'm wondering what others have done and why I never noticed any comments about it.

Thanks!

cant help you...i got the weathertech all weather mats and they both have the oem holes in them with raised edges so rain and melted snow dont find their way past the hooks.

the second row was a pain initially as i had to cut it to fit but now that I know how it goes is an easy install after cleaning...and stays in place pretty good.

Going for rear mat in cargo area next but dont use hooks...just put camping gear, hunting gear and the occasional dead animal in the rear so dont want holes for blood to find its way past.

I would call McNiel to see if you got the wrong ones. If they have enough grip on bottom already then you wont need hooks and can just remove the hooks not needed and dont worry about it. I find that my weathertecs do not slide much if any at all...and the single hook on driver side is likely a safety precaution JUST IN CASE in light of the stuck accelerators from mats being experienced.

just my two cents...good luck.

I just installed the front and second row weathertechs in my 2000 LC (early x-mas gift from my Dad). Both front weathertech mats have two holes in them, but my truck only has one hook on the driver's side.

I assumed that the extra holes in the mats were for the Lexus trucks. Even with one hook on the DS and none on the PS, they stay in place.

And as Brock said, I think the hook is just a safety precaution "just in case".

My passenger side doesn't fit well - I will see if I can get a pic of where it sticks up about 1"

The position the mat is currently in lets it stick up the least - it snags on everything
Digital "fit" but it looks like it was cut with a utility knife

I've had my Weathertech Digital-Fit front mats for several years now; the only mats I've ever owned that I haven't worn a hole through at the heel.

Anyway mine just have one hole on the driver's side for the OEM mat hook; passenger side = no holes.

I have the front and second row sets as well. I am very impressed with the fit and they do not slide around at all that I can see. I also only have one clip on the driver's side.

$20 Costco universal suv floor mats.
Been inside my 100 for 7 years and no signs of wear. Absolutley hands down best mats you can buy. I can snap some pictures if you want. Alternative and cheaper method.

i'll try to take some pics of my weathertec mats when I get home tonight. My tread pattern is different than shaggy's, but My fire exting is in the same spot.

Here are my front row Weathertech mats. I don't know what model mine are, but they are different than both 71FJ40 and Shaggy's. They fit very well, and did not require any cutting. Notice that there are two holes in each mat for hooks, and I have one hook on the DS only in my truck:

Appreciate the pictures. Yeah, the floor mats obviously use 2 retainer clip/hooks on each side, but the floor liner (digital fit) by design only uses one on the drivers side and neither on the passenger side (confirmed with macneil today). I'm just extremely surprised - the customer service rep said i'm the first person that complained about this..?

I just don't get it - yeah, I'm a little picky but I know there are pickier peeps out there and to pay top dollar for these floor liners, I expect the fit to be custom and perfect for my vehicle - if the vehicle has retainer clips it should use them. I decided to remove the clips since I didn't want the liner sitting on the unused clips (either it'd break 'em over time or it'd allow the DS liner to slip which is a hazard), and thought maybe they'd come out/in easily but they don't. I took out 3 - one came out ok, the other two pulled out the grommet with the clip - not sure but it looked like the one that stayed in was a metal grommet and the other two were plastic. I have no idea what a stock vehicle comes with (how many grommet/clips and what material the grommet is) - apparently I'm the only one out there with weathertech mats and 4 retainer clips in the front...? Figure I should be able to get grommet replacement kits (couldn't find any specifically for auto carpet but found some kits for tarp, tent, shoe, etc) if I care enough.

Anyhow, I'm just amazed that I can't find anyone else with this complaint/frustration?!

I like the clips with the stock floor mats (both carpet and rubber) because they would move around if they didn't have them. But if the floorliners need only one (or none), why would I want them... why would I want extra holes in the liners that are designed to retain fluid.

I just got the Weathertech "All Weather Floor Mats" for my 2000 LC. Same as the ones in Brock's picture.

They fit OK, but they are not worth 3x as much as a set of universal mats from Costco or Wal-Mart.

The WeatherTech mats are only sort-of custom fit, medium-weight, medium-quality, and not worth $50 for a pair, in my opinion.

The good Weathertech mats are actually the floor liners. They are molded, have the drains and look sharp.

I Have the digital fit mats, and only the one hole on the DS. My 2000LC only has the one hook, maybe the 2005 had more hooks form the factory. Relatively happy with the digital fits, there is a spot where they are not perfect on the PS (already shown) but they are iron tough and not too big a pain to clean. I find the cargo liners to be too large a PITA to be worth it, as they are lippy (if they are gonna work) or they let mung leak to the carpet.
