Hi, new owner (~ 2 months) with a '85 Canadian BJ60. I like this truck a lot.

But...

It rained this weekend and I'm finding leaks into the passenger compartment. I live in western Oregon and this will be a real problem in the winter if I can't get it fixed.

The leaks are dripping onto the front mats from the outside lower corners of the dash, both sides. My first search attempt was not very productive - no 60 results at all. Anybody familiar with this problem? Is this a windshield gasket, blocked drain, etc? Any and all help much appreciated.

Thanks!:)

I'll say your windshield gasket guess is a strong possibility, and add to check the roof and cowl for rust-through. If it's not readily apparent otherwise, spending some quality time with a garden hose should get you somewhere.

Definitely check the gutters. Mine are leaking from the gutter above the driver's door. It runs down the inside of the A pillar and then drips down a wire into the drivers side.

I live in Portland too! Anyway I can get a ride in the diesel cruiser? I'm thinking about finding one, not sure how great they are.

My 60 is sleeping in the driveway, no doubt with water in the driver's mat area.

x3 on the gutters. Seal them up wil 3m all around body caulk or 3m rain gutter sealer.

Anyone know how many tubes of Fast'n Firm 3M Sealer it takes to fill a 60s gutters? They are 1/10 of a gallon and about $15 each.

After purchasing my 62 5 years ago I discovered a similar leak on the driver's side only. Turned out to be not the windshield gasket or the gutters, which are in perfect shape, but the seam between fender and door panel. A little caulk and it's never leaked since. My pickup also leaked in this general area when I bought it this spring, and this time it was some missing weatherstripping under the windshield corner.

I like the direction so far.

Also check the little holes at the bottom corner below the window gasket. if you look close there are tiny drain holes right there, in the metal...if plugged...it could have created rust, leaks, etc..

Hey guys, thanks for all the help! Much appreciated. One of these days I'll get my camera out and log in to the 60 registry (continues to procrastinate.....)

Anyway I'm into some crazy grad school madness right now and haven't been able to try any of these fixes yet, but will give it a close look this weekend and see what I can see. I'll post up with results when they come in.

Eporter - PM me and we can get together and compare notes. When I get a spare nanosecond, that is.

 <--- (why is this little dude holding a wine glass?!?! Should be a micro! Mmmmmmm... beer....)

Check the rear seal at the back of the hood. When the hood is closed, it stops water from dripping down the firewall and following the wires down into the cab. Very simple and cheap fix.

Mmmm, Oregon microbrews and brewpubs. I miss them. Good luck on grad school. Have you posted a thread introducing yourself? I'd like to hear about your bj60.

Don't forget to post up results.
