My wife has had her fjc for about 15 months and 24k miles and my warranty is absolutly worthless. I have not been able to find one small thing to take in and have fixed for free. No knobs, no trim, not adjustment, nothing. I have owned many different brands and you just get used to the fact that you will have to have the others serviced several times to get the fit and finish installed correctly. My ford 6.0 dually was in the shop the first year almost as often as my garage. Several 2 week runs. My chevy truck took 5 or 6 trip just to find one problem with all there part changing.
I agree. I see where other brands are offering 100k warranties (think Jeep even has a lifetime warranty on some models now!), but I'd rather buy one that I'm not going to have to take back and deal with the stealer.
Gee Thad, sounds like you are suffering from that very rare condition known as WDD(Warranty Deficit Disorder) . Ya should'a bought one a them new JK Wranglers. We did. Plenty of opportunity to use the warranty. Little stuff mind you, like the roof leaking on the Freedom Hardtop when we drove it off the lot and plenty of rattles as soon as we touched some washboard. My wife and I just smiled...It's A Jeep Thing...You Japanese J**p Folks Wouldn't Understand.
Then a strange thing happened. After a few months of the JK, I gave the FSJ15 another, more thorough evaluation. I took a used one(with 25K miles) on the same little off-road(no road) excursions I had been taking the JK...it did just as well and did it a lot more smoothly and seemingly effortlessly. On some major mountain highway grades, the low cost variant of the 'Land Cruiser' ran like our '8 Xterra, which is to say a lot faster in acceleration and passing than the JK. Again, the smoother, more comfortable, safer, dare I say more modern(sophisticated) feeling little LC was impressive.
We have never found a perfect product. However, the five Toyotas we have had remind me of our Ruger firearms. In fact, the Rugers have no advertised written 'warranty', but continue to sell quite well where other makers feel the need to publicize their warranties as a key selling point. We have had a couple of minor probs. with our Toys and zero with our Rugers.
A life time warranty on an inferior quality product that is constantly in for repairs is truly a false economy.

What he said...except H&K instead of Luger in my case (although I'd liken the LandCruser to the H&K and my Glock to the FJ...a little more plastic than I care for, but it does the job simply & very effectively).
yeah bought the warranty for my tacoma and will never buy it for a toyota again. I also didn't reliaze that it was a 3rd party warranty also and I googled the company and it looks like they wouldn't pay even if I wanted them to. My dad and brother-in-law have so many problems with there new chevys. Some problems they can't even fix them and now there warranty is up.
brother-in-law breaks down in his 2003 suburban, takes it to dealer they put gas in it and it works. We think he's an dumb a$$. Then it happend again they take it to the dealer and they put in gas and it works. come to find out that there is something wrong with the fuel pump or something and when it goes below half a tank it can't pump enough or something like that. Years later the problem is still there. At Christmas time they all sit around talking about how much trouble they've had with there trucks. I bought my tacoma the same time and can't say anything cause I have no problems. They are to the point that they don't take it to the dealer for one problem, they wait for a few things to pile up.
I like that statment! Can I steal it from you and use it? I too used to have Fords, Chevys, Chryslers and yes, even jeeps! I have had 1 Nisson and 2 Toyotas, won't be buying anything else!
Amen again Woodeye!! I have had quite the opposite experience with my warranty. I like mud, a whole bunch. Twice I have thrown so much mud and water into the airfilter that it has fried the mass air sensor. Both times I took it in they replaced it under warranty. I confess that both times were completely my fault and Toyota had no obligation to fix it on their dime, but they did. I also fried my transfer case in the dessert, I don't think I have ever had so many calls for apology. They had my FJ for 3 weeks because the part had to be shipped from Japan. Not only did they fix the T/C, but they paid for my rental car? They offered the 72k mile B to B warranty for $250.00 when I bought, so I fealt I couldn't pass it up. Each time I brought it in for an oil change in the first year, THEY would find things that needed to be fixed. Simple things I didn't ask for, like the cable that pops the hood had to much slack...so they fixed. One of the plastic pieces that hold the floor mat down split, they fixed it. Something I had stored in the back bent the a/c adaptor, they replaced it.
The only thing they haven't fixed for free is a bent lower control arm....and I would not expect them to fix that.
Sorry about the warranty problems, maybe try a different dealership? I
I went back and re read your post....the second time I think I picked up the idea that you may have been complimenting the Toyota, saying you didn't need a warranty cause nothing breaks. If so disreguard my suggestion to find another dealership!!!
None the less, what I shared above is my idea of a car company that supports their buyers to the inth degree. They have truly bent over backwards to make sure I have the biggest smile on my face when I leave. Thanks Jory, Jaque and Jerome at Toyota of Dallas. Maybe with the compliments you will reconsider fixing my LCA for free!! I also don't want to forget my boys in Vegas at Fletcher Jones....thanks for all you guys did while I was there!

why not make it three in a row!! gonna have to support the Lugar (sorry NYCTRD!!, its all personal preference anyhow right?) but I love the idea of comparing firearms to the Little Truck that wont stop!! I also love the fact that you get to add more plastic to the FJC with the glove box on the drivers side making for the perfect fit of my mini Glock 40!! (I actually think my salesman used this during his sales pitch!! he actually could have stood there and said nothing and I still would have bought it) The glove box and the 40 has got me out of two traffic violations in the last year. Gotta love Texas, our support by local law enforcement for carrying concealed firearms, and the CHL for giving our officers a sense of security during a traffic stop!!!
You wanna know why I drive LandCruisers and FJ Cruisers?
We got b**chslapped by a tornado a couple of weeks ago. That's my wife's 100 with the carport roof and 2 tons of tree sitting on top of it. It is dropped to the pavement. Suspension and frame are intact. Even while the tree was sitting on it, you could open all four doors as if the truck was new. The rear of the roof line is about 1/8" depressed, so the rear seals around the rear hatch don't keep water out. Did more damage to the FJ than to the LandCruiser.

no doubt...i'm sure I was reading and talking with some client up at work that has no idea how to invest his money. half paying attention to him and half paying attention to reading!!
May have found something though. Hasn't happened yet, but did get the 20% off coupon for the TRD CAI. Highlighted in bold prints it states, from the dealership, this mod is not covered by warranty? Haven't installed it yet, but if it did break....why wouldn't it be covered? its on the TRD FJ right?
