Hey All,

My '78 FJ40 currently has 4 steelies with hubcap clips and a spare without hubcap clips... and I'm running 30x9.50x15 tires. Brakes are discs in the front and drums in the back.

The tires are fine... I don't want to change sizes or anything... but, one of the 'clipped' wheels is warped, so I need a replacement...

But, since I have to replace a wheel, I'm seriously considering replacing them all. I don't need to run the hubcaps and am not a TLC puritan.

I don't want anything flashy or expensive, but I would like to be able to use a Hi-Lift Lift-Mate , to lift from the wheels, with any new wheels.

So... can anyone recommend wheels that meet this criteria:
  • Reasonable price
  • Same size and hole-pattern
  • Work with discs and drums
  • Holes for the Lift-Mate
Thanks!

But in 6 lug.

These are what I use on my 60. Have been on the truck for 26 years. The LiftMate works well with these. Promise.

Classic design for the 40. Period correct.

If you don't like white, they can be painted or powder coated.

Kind of boring I know. They look better when a little dirty.

Thanks @Output Shaft - I like them!!

Sorry, I never learned the nuances of wheels... Never even bought any without buying the car they were on...

So, no issues with back spacing or mounting my 9.5" tires on them?

What about airing down? Would you expect them to hold the bead at the same pressures I now use? I've never aired down further than 15 psi.

Thanks!!

I don't know if the back spacing for the 40 is the same as the 60. (I have a 60).

I shared that picture as a reference. That wheel obviously is not the correct one as it has five lugs, not six.

That design though works.

Search. There will be back spacing specs for the 40 on mud. Very common old school wheel. A classic.

I drive mine (15x8) with 31" tires at 12 psi all the time on the beaches. Fully loaded car. No hi speed driving or fast turns at that psi of course.

30" tires need 7 or 6 inch wide wheels.

See, I know nothing!! I haven't had my hubcaps off lately, I forgot I had 6 lug nuts.

But, I like these wheels!!

Thanks!!
