these winches anygood? might be able to get a second hand one for about 1/4 of retail.

for my 40

seem good stuff from what I read, similar quality as the M8K and the M12K (which replaced the 10 IIRC). Warns keep their value very well in the US (1/4 is very good). Plenty for a 40 I think.

Buy it. Those 10K winches are in demand. Can't go wrong at 1/4 retail.

Got one on my '80. Paid under retail new when the 12k came out. Nice winch.

...

IF so-swag it. Just got the M12k for the wifes 80....GREAT PURCHASE:D

cool, so they'd be up to the task of doing some hard tracks where it would get used pretty often then (can get it for the same price as a cheap chinese generic brand winch, which wouldn't put up with my abuse)

I got a M10,000 winch and it has been trouble free for me for six years! Buy it.

I had 1 on my 1st 100srs - heavy sucker and not lightning fast either. In standard form, not waterproof at all! Ive got a 8274 now, and recomend you hold out - look in the trading post, they come up every now and then. A 40s not that heavy, and youll appreciate the speed and extra cable of the 8274.
regards
Matt
