Ok...I think I finally have my winch choice narrowed down to the Warn 9.5xp or the Warn 9.5ti for my 100/TJM T3C. This bumper like it's ARB counterpart limits how large a winch I can run...and these two are at the max size without significant modding of the bumper.

I've done searches within and outside IH8MUD. Does anyone have direct experience with these two Warn models? The only negative I found on the 9.5xp is when off-angle winching the rope can bunch up and interfere with this winch's cross frame/bracket when pulling from the outler layers. Don't have much info on the 9.5ti from actual users. Is one better sealed for weather/water resistance?

Thanks in advance!

I run the 9.5ti, I have been extremely please with it... Are you sure the 9.5ti (integrated solenoids over the top) will fit in you application, it is ~ 2.5" taller (deeper if mounted from the bottom). The XP solenoid pack is easy to mount...

Well I am 99.9% sure the XP will fit and I still need to carefully measure the space in the TJM T3C to see if there is enough height for the ti. It might require some 'messaging' to fit properly. Do you know if it will fit or not?

Not apples to apples but close enough that I think it's worth mentioning. I run an XD9000 which is set up like a 9.5XP. In my opinion the bars on the fairlead are located too close to the spool. If you run steel cable you need to put the cable back on the winch perfectly every time. Or leave a length spooled out and wrapped around your bull bar/bumper. I prefer to achieve perfection with my cable once a day, at the end of the day. Not an option with the XD9000 and it looks like you'd have the same problem with the 9.5XP unless you ran synthetic cable.

That is the only performance negative I have been able to find about the XP. I haven't seen one up close but am wondering if I could craft 'U' shaped bars to sub for the factory bars that reside too close to the drum?

I think they'd be difficult to install (thinking not being my strong point). I think (again, ouch) the best fix is synthetic cable but that's not in my budget. So I have become meticulous with the cable rewind. Worse things could happen.

Not having the experience of using syn winch line...why wouldn't the syn line bunch up and itnerfere as well for off-angle pulls and/or straight-line pulls when the rope doesn't neatly coil around the drum?

I don't think synthetic line would bunch up as much. It's far more pliable than steel cable and thus easier to spool evenly onto the winch. And while it doesn't compress much it surely compresses more than steel cable, resulting in less height of cable in the spool.

I also have the XD9000 and installed only 85 ft of 3/8" rope - to make sure it will all fit. The rope also has the protective sleave for about the first 12 ft... It comes very close to full on the spool.
