Even if it appears ready for travel plan to buy a new battery, portable heater, fix electrical, lube bearings, new tires, lift and installing a box of wood screws. I purchased one about 2 years ago and am still fixing things regularly 1995 viking. All of the interior is glued and stappled, after the first trip to Panamint Valley many of the joints, hinges, panels etc. wiggled free. Not expensive just time consuming. Also check the seams of the canvas and the rubber/plastic channel seats, I ended up resetting/resealing the seats and restiching several seams. Even though my fridge and heater work, I found that a portable propane heater worked better and an ice checst was more efficient if close enough to restock ice. Even with shore power the heater was loud and the fridge was too small for most items. One regret I had was not getting a unit with a built in toilet/shower. Although some say they are useless in close quarters. It would have been nice to have for remote areas and when cold at night. One other problem mine has is the converter. It will not charge my internally mounted battery, so I have to remove it and connect to an external charger. The battery works well for lighting but cannot be used for anything else, heater, fridge etc. though. I did manage to find a newer converter on ebay that is an upgrade with a 3 stage charger built in that I need to install. Something else to consider is adding a lift since most ride really low. Mine is so low that it often scrapes on standard driveways, I have already bent the rear bumper twice and dragged several times.
Either way the pop up has worked great for me and a buddy but am considering a motorhome for the wife and daughter. It gets you out of the weather like a tent with a table and stove to cook on but sucks for noise and wind. my 2 cents for what its worth,
