Wanted: working rear heater motor for the FJ55.

The fan and coils aren't needed, but if you absolutely must sell the whole heater, I'd be willing to have a look at your price.

thanks :)

I needed a rear heater motor for my 77' fj40. went to radio shack. the have an electric 12 volt fan approximately 3 inches square that fits. You just have to file off the lower 4 edges and it falls into place. I hooked up and put in a remote $1 toggle switch. think i may have spent a total of $13 and 20 minutes. hope that helps. ps. it is also quiet.

You wouldn't by chance be talking about a computer cooling fan, would you? (looks like this)

I found out that my heater core is bad as well as the motor (leaks) and the local radiator shop won't fix. I may just have to make a new heater with a 120mm computer fan and a little geo metro heater core... just to get me thru winter...

radio shack part number

Yes, regarding picture of fan motor from radio shack. Looks like one in pic posted above. Part Number. CAT. NO. 273-243B.

weeboo, might try another radiator "old timer" shop.they usually can be rebuilt or a new core placed in the housing.....would try another 'cause even if your blower fan is not working it is still a nice heat source once the engine warms up..........my 0.02
MAP..thanks for the numbers :)

I have been thinking about the whole rear heater thing, and frankly, if you don't care about leaving it original, a computer cooling fan is a fantastic idea. I've built a lot of computers and there's many benefits to these fans:

1) they are dirt cheap, if you need to replace one
2) they run for thousands of hours
3) The are available in different configurations - ranging from ultra-quiet to gale force wind

If someone wanted to make their own heater (because no one would fix your circular heater core) you could use a larger 120mm computer cooling fan and an old small heater core out of any compact car. Computer enthusiasts use this same setup in liquid-cooled computers.

Make your own Water Cooling System
