Wanted (pig latch) tailgate latch

Alright the latch on my tailgate is broke and it would be nice to open the tailgate without climbing inside and taking the panel off and tying 550 cord to the latches then closing the window and then pulling the cords. Kinda extensive for opening the tailgate. Or if it's an easy fix on the inside let me know.
