Hey,

Odd question, but I'm looking for one or a set of beat up fenders, to fit my 76 fj 40

I just need the middle horizontal section on the external part to be good, the rest can be bad, I want to cut it out and weld it into my mostly good fenders to resurrect them. I might be able to get by with just one, might need two.

In case my English is insufficient to explain the part I'm referring to, both my fenders have rust holes I want to patch Here:

Anyone got one/two to sell locally? I don't want to swap in good fenders as I want to practice welding sheet metal patch panels ...

Ilso looking for a set of doors to make into half doors, top can be crap,
can have rust holes in middle of sheet, but the edges must be ok, I'm not that motivated yet. I don't want to cut down a perfectly good set of doors, as I'm not confident in my welding enough to kill forever a perfectly good part. I've barely welded sheet metal, I've been welding bar stock all this time. or big(to me) pieces of steel.

Thanks,

Cal-

I have couple of sets of fenders, one set has been cut on already, but I need to check the areas that you are pointing at, that if that area is O.K. on them, you can have them just to get them outta my way. And I also have a new set that I bought some years ago from CCOT I'll take a $100.00 for that I know is good in those areas and may fit you truck pretty good.... I'll get back to you tomorrow on them...

I'm not sure but I think if there is a piece anywhere on the edge of flat part it can fit as a patch panel... so if there are good bits on them that sounds great.

I know it's odd, but I kinda don't want to unbolt something and then bolt something new on... I kinda dig taking two bad somethings and making one good thing out of them... Bringing it back to life, I guess... I'm sure eventually my desire to be done will grind that out of me, but for now I want to roll with it. One of the things I do in my other hobby is metal shaping...(yes I should just panel beat a new piece) I'm hoping to cross contaminate skills here and there, and do as much sheet metal welding as I can. It's a skill I want to master.

So if the CCOT one's are newish, I'd rather pass but if they are something "dead" I'd love to look.

Cal,

The cut up fenders are in great shape in the areas your looking for. Really, both fenders are in great shape, the only thing that's been cut on them are the inner wells where a PO had cut them for use with fender well headers for a SBC. I thought that part would be in better shape than the ones I have on my current project (Kommando), but both sets were pretty much the same (my original ones were cut for the same reason), so I used my old ones. These were given to me, so I'll pay it forward, they are yours if you want them. I am planning on being in N Austin tomorrow morning send me a PM and a phone number and we'll make arragements if that doesn't work for you.

That'd be awesome man, many thanks :)

Sorry I missed your message, I was helping Kling-ong/Joel put the last bits of his back porch together all day Sunday, didnt' quite get it done but I was beat tired from the heat when we got home.

If it's easier, During the week I work off riverside and 35, so I can swing by after work and pick them up, or meet you someplace.

Home is north Pflugerville, basically where 130 and 45 cross out by black-hawk.

Let me know what is easy for you and drop me a line my email is
