I am getting ready for a mojave road trip and could use a roof rack for gas and water. Anybody know of or have a rack suitable for an FZJ80. I have been closly watching craigs list with no results, lot of smaller racks but no 48"-50" x 48"-60" range sizes. Like most of us I am on a budget and hoping to spend less than $250 for something like an old conferr, surco, or megawarrior. I already have yakima gutter racks and bars that I picked up on craigs list for $50 so I have been leaning toward a megawarrior for easy to find accesories.

I have a garvin roofrack, but if I was to sell it it won't be for less than 600, I really don't know how much they are new, but I had mine powder coated a year ago and I payed almost 400 alone. Just in trowing that out :meh:

I would love to have a garvin but $600 is too steep for me. Thanks for the offer though.

an option for you, you could probably fab something up to work with those crossbars you have on there, most hardware stores sell those small ubolts that actually work really well. You could basically weld up a basket with some square stock and hold it down to the bars with those smaller ubolts, that way it is removable for later use.......

or you could make a simple platform of square stock and weld some hooks into it, that way it is flat and you can rope everything down....

or you could go with baja racks. i've been contemplating one. price is pretty good too.

I looked at these for about $400, but was hoing to find a used one for about half since I will only use 1-2 times a year. I have missed 3-4 of them on craigs list for $100-200, conferr's and megawarriors.

I was considereing this but am quickly running out of time, as you may relate having a 1 year old does not help, and working from 7-7 mon-fri makes it harder. Over all I am happy to have a job but have to work harder to assure I keep it. I may just rig up 4 alumium channels from an old bike rack using u-bolts from home depot, it could work in a pinch and only take a couple hours to make.
