Wanted Wanted: FJ62 in the South

Hi all,

Been stalking this forum, ebay and CL for a while now in search of an FJ62 to replace my MKV GTI going up for sale in the next couple weeks. We're looking for a highway cruiser capable of long road trips and light off-road duty, as well as being a semi-daily driver if needed (our other cars are E30s, and I like to tinker...).

Looking for a rust-free clean example in the $5k-$9k range, and am willing to make a trip out of it for the right one. Any help would be appreciated, and thanks for looking!

Have you found one yet? There's one in Piedmont area NC that I recently saw for sale. 1988 FJ62, grey, OME lift, Viper alarm + backup camera, regular maint. PM me if you're interested and I'll find out more about it.

Thanks for the reply. Haven't found one yet unfortunately. Looked that one up CL actually. Looks amazing, but we *just* finished a trip to NC a couple weeks ago, so probably won't have time to travel for a while. Looks like the perfect truck though.

I am in NC and might have what you are looking for. It needs a paint job but other than that it is my DD. Rebuilt head, transmission, transfer case, both axles rebuilt minus the thirds , brakes redone, 2.5 inch lift, 32 inch tires almost new still, no rust I can find, transmission has extra oil cooler now after a rebuild of it. A few minor dents from whatever. Not a total head Turner but trust worthy to drive it all over. My wife loves driving it. Just getting too many Cruisers. Again in NC though.

And high miles on it. 350,000. But most everything has been into now.

Looks like NC is packed with cruisers! Would be quite a hike from TN, but would be interested in seeing some pics if you've got 'em handy. Thanks guys!
