I just came on to post an add for our 89 HJ61 and came across your wanted add.

We bought this from @hdj8081 about a year ago and have came to the conclusion my wife never really wanted this truck.

It has about 150k miles on it and since we’ve bought we have done the following:

New KO3 BFGs
New thermostat and O.E. brass/copper radiator imported from the Middle East.
New Morimito sealed beam head lights
Stainless steel battery trays
Forgot to mention replaced almost all heater hoses too

Registered in Cali asking 35k

It’s currently in the shop awaiting parts to rebuild the H55. It could use a 1-2 synchro assembly but I might as well do 3,4, and 5 too.

The price will likely go up after the rebuild.

Hello,
I'm John Swanson (Not Bjorn Ogderuud, or whatever name that may read in the corner) I currently own an FJ60 with a 12Ht mated to an H55f. I call it Violet Beauregard. I bought it as a package deal when I bought my wife's '97 triple locked. (Not pictured)
The 1984 FJ60 is a great truck, and it'd be fun to keep and update, but my heart lies with the 80 series. Beauregard has all the gubbins folks may be looking for:
5" Alcan SUA lift
15"x8" steel wheels with 2.5" backspacing
ARB front bumper (old style with all the oxidation but no rust)
1982 8274 Warn winch (Some people swear by these old bastard winches; I think it's US made in Oregon, not the new Chinese Warn stuff)
Solid Rock Off-Road Rear Bumper -...tire carrier, two jerry can carrier, hi-lift jack carrier, hitch, rear quarter panel protection (modified by Metal Tech)
Solid Rock Off-Road Sliders
Notched Cross-member by Metal Tech
Safari Snorkel
Longfield's 30-spline superaxles
Full Float rear axle
Poly Performance chromoly rear axles
4x4 labs six stud 1-ton steering
4.11 diffs
Front ARB Locker with large ARB compressor
Rear Aussie Locker
Corbeau Baja RS driver seat
Yaesu FT-2800 FM Transceiver, hatch mounted Comet sbb1-nmo
Tuffy Console
A Long Range America 40 Gallon extra-sized fuel cell.

It's all there, but I haven't the time or inclination to make it fancy. Chances are, if I dive into it, you might not like what I've done. So I've got this true diamond in the rough. All the interior is removed, most of it is in the back. It's registered and passed DEQ in Oregon. It's a 12Ht powered monster that could roll over most anything, and thanks to the enormous fuel cell, it'll pass a station or two before returning for more dinosaur bones.

I'd like $20,000 for it. You could probably drive it home, but I'd suggest a trailer because I hate the Corbeau drivers seat.

If you're interested, lemme know at MANVIL@mac.com.
Oh, and all the quarter panels are rust free. I'll send more pics if you want them.
Cheers,
John

Thanks John! Looks like a sweet truck. Do you know if it was originally a gas FJ60 w/ diesel swap to 12HT?

From what I was told at the time I purchased it, the original 2F was swapped out by the owner and a pal down in SoCal.

His call sign was Ducks on IH8Mud, and he loved this rig, but I believe the new Ford Bronco and all the fancy Ford goodies drew his attention from the ultimate goal of finishing the FJ60. I believe 'life' may have gotten in the way as well. His father passed and they were both deeply involved in the FJ60 project. You can see all his IH8Mud convo links here if you want to plunge into that rabbit hole.

She is a big ol' ball of fun to drive, let me know if I can help with any other questions you may have.
Cheers,
John
