I have been looking for a late model low milage 200 series cruiser for my girlfriend to drive and along comes a like new low mileage 2013 lx570, long story short I bought it and love it and she really loves it.
So I guess my question is did I jump the gun and make a mistake? I also had intentions of using it to car camp and I wanted to slightly modify it for off road . I really don't want a lift ,just want to run a good looking all terrain tire which I cant seem to find in a 255 50 20 wheel size . I also wanted to add an arb bumper on the front with a winch but I don't think arb makes one for the lx. I guess I am just looking for some input and ideas since all my research and ideas have been geared towards the land cruiser ..... Helppppp

If you only want to do mild off-road stuff...I think you are perfectly fine. You should be able to bump up to 33.5" All Terrain tires without additional lift. You can also add step sliders. ARB does offer a front bumper for the 570 through 2012. Not sure why they don't show a 2013+...but the LC also has a different front ARB spec that changes as of 2013 LCs.

If I were you, I'd call Slee Offload and talk to Ben or Christo. They specialize in LCs and LXs and will be able to get specific.

Will be watching this thread closely. Interested in a used, higher mileage 200 and in my area there seems to be an abundance of clean, dealer maintained and garage kept LX vs only a few clapped out LCs that are rather rough.

I agree. If you were not setting out to modify the truck, the LX is perfect! I have taken mine off road and have enjoyed the heck out of it. With that said, I am "modifying" mine by changing out the rims to 18s so I have more options for AT type tires. My wife bought me some WeatherTech digital liners and other than that, it will remain stock. It will be perfect for hitting the forest service roads and even a bit of the rocks, as is. You too can have this fun! Enjoy it and try it out! I was thinking the same, but have found that it is quite capable, as is!

Oh... I missed the fact that you have 20's on it. Get rid of those and swap to either stock LC 18's (I JUST sold a great set of 5 for CHEAP...) or look for a set of used TRD 17" Rock Warriors. Keep an eye on Craigslist. No need to buy new...unless you have money to burn. But ya...dump the 20" wheels.

I'll prolly dumped the 20s for considering it needs tires now which is surprising with it only have 26k miles and go with 17s or 18s as long as the clearance for brakes is still ok with the smaller rims . Also on the sliders it has the factory painted to match running boards I wonder if anyone has taken those off their lx and what it may look like ?

It also has power folding 3rd row which I don't know how big of a fan I am of that option. I want an arb fridge in the back but would want to remove at least one of the rear seats to give a Little extra room does anyone know if this is possible with the power option or does that make them fixed sorry in advanced for all the dumb questions but I just got this thing yesterday and I'm a little clueless

3rd row seats come out, tedious, but doable. Thread on Lexus Owners forum and one here, but I couldn't find it quickly.

Black sliders look good on just about any color (IMHO)but...but if you are set on color matching...just have them power coated or painted to match. No biggie...

I'm in about the same boat as you.

I've wanted a Land Cruiser for years, but finding one is a needle in a haystack. LXs are much more common around here. I ended up getting a 2011 LX.

I too want a better offroad tire eventually. If you go from the stock 285/50/20 up to 285/55/20 you can get BFG all terrains in that size. That's probably what I will do, as long as I can research it enough and be sure that they wont rub.

As some have mentioned, I also thought about finding 18" LC wheels too. I want more sidewall, and better options for tires.

Good luck, enjoy! These are amazing machines!

No doubt they are

My LC came with LX style moulded side steps, you'll need to buy the LC rocker panel covers

If you want sliders, then you should have purchased an LC. The AHC system has components mounted all along the outside of the frame. Unless you pull that system out and put in a standard LC suspension, or something made for the LC like a life, you will have lots of issues trying to get sliders to fit. Because I have a lifted 100, I am not planning on modifying my LX. For the off road excursions that I WILL use it on, I won't need sliders because the AHC in Hi will work fine.

IF you are planning more strenuous off road adventures, the LC is better suited for mods. If not, then the LX will be fine, but you will not be sporting sliders and you will probably want to keep the stock steps. They cover the AHC components.

Why change wheels? The 20" stockers look awesome. Just pick up a set of AT tires in 275-55-20. There are lots to choose from and they are slightly taller than stock:

Because off-road...you want more sidewall than metal. Tha't why most here have put 17’s on, or at most, 18’s.

Slee recently purchased a 570 for the shop to work on. You might want to ask Christo if he has any plans to build a set of sliders for it, and if so...whether he manages to work around the AHC...or remove it.

Man, would I LOVE this, if it were to happen! At most, this would be the limit of my mods on the LX, but it would provide a HUGE feeling of comfort heading out to the trails!

This should give you an idea WHY I said go with the LC, if you want sliders. I was even thinking of weld-ons, IF I could find room, but alas, it does not look so. I am guessing that Christo will opt to remove the AHC and add a small 4-6" lift.

?? 4-6 inch lift would not be considered "small" on an LX or even an LC! :) Most Slee lifts in front go from 2, to maybe 3.5...or so I'm told.
