I have a 76 FJ55 That I conservatively estimate is worth $4500.

I want to trade for a decent fj60, body can be marginal if there is
no/little rust.

First the Bads on the Pig:

Body rust: front lowers, rear wheel wells, rear quarters, driver floorpan
bondo: rear tailgate (have spare gate with motor & scissors) front lowers
rear: sill and gate fit off a bit
headliner: ripped in small spots & stretched
interior: general wear some rips
windshield: cracked (all other glass intact & spare glass ((not front))

So its a good start, it just needs more time than I can give
it and would be an amazing opportunity for someone to have
a bad-ass Pig.

I see someone who has a couple cruisers, who has an "ole reliable"
but unused fj60 sitting around, who really needs a 55, getting a really
good starting point on this rig.

It needs to go to someone who can save it before its too late body-wise

The motor is the real deal and everything else is pretty complete
I have many spare parts from inside stuff to another 4spd.

I see it as a $4500-$5000 trade vs. the value of a semi-nice reliable 60

Yes, I will take an offer at or over $4500 but if two or more people are willing to pay that, it's not gonna be a first come first serve situation. The sale will be based on a number of criteria including ease of transfer and who wants it most.

That being said, I have just dropped the truck off at the mechanic who assembled the motor, it is not running correctly at the moment. Not a major issue, the power can be felt when it is tuned properly but it is having trouble keeping a tune and is fouling plugs pretty rapidly.

Obviously, we think it is running rich, and its hard to down tune a 500cfm Edebrock Performer to run like a 390.

I am having the mechanic who built the motor try to tune it properly and this may involve changing carbs.

Oh and btw, DO NOT BUY Livewires by DUI, they suck!!!
One can not remove the wire from the plug without seperating
The wire from the terminal unless using a special plug wire removal
tool. For $100, they should be stouter.

I am probably going to put on a set of MSD's

I need to make sure its running the way it should before
selling it, I want it to be as advertised to whoever buys
it and I don't want to leave anyone with a headache or
the feeling they got "taken".

I want the person who buys this to be thrilled and I want the
motor dialed in. I have felt it when its running properly and it
is VERY strong, but it needs to be able to hold a tune before
I sell it. My reputation with Cruiserheads requires nothing less.

So lets hold off until I get it back from the shop.

The other answer is yes, it has front discs.

Hey D'animal, So this truck had smog equipment stock?

I didn't know, when I bought it, it had a single F from a 69
FJ40 so I assume the stuff came off at that point.

Well,

Got it back from the shop, its running pretty good
and not fouling plugs but its a bit anemic at the top
of 1st and 2nd so I'm going to have to rejet it AGAIN.

Whoever ends up getting this truck...
I suggest you take off this Edelbrock
and put something else on.
 
I really wish I wasn't broke...I could drive this around!!! man I miss all my cruisers....:frown::frown:
 
To all following

To Everyone showing interest.....

I had it jetted down to the smallest jets and those are a bit TOO small
as there are flat spots at the high end of the RPM range on both the Primaries and the secondaries at the top of 1st and second. The mechanic also took a bit too much advance out of the timing.

I am replacing the Autolites (some guy told me they were hard to foul, and they sorta aren't) back to the NGK v-powers

I am putting on a set of MSD Super Conductors to replace the Live Wires

I am jetting up just a tad

and bringing total advance to probably around 8 degrees
(It was at 9.5 then I think the most recent adjustment took it to 6)

Sorry for making everybody wait, I don't know what the hell is going on with this tune situation, but I'm on top of it.

Once I shrouded that fuel line, the extra richness occured so I just gotta hone it in a bit.

I just really want it running right before I give it up.

OKAY!!

Okay,

Got it running right after some NGK's and slightly larger jets
and a metering rod switch. It's definitely working well now.
I didn't switch the wires. It's firing on all six. Brought the advance
to 8 degrees. All is well, as long as it doesn't foul these plugs
but it shouldn't now that its not so rich and the fuel pressure is
a steady 4PSI. SO all good as far as I can tell.

Let the games recommence.
