Is the VTV just a check valve? I've got a broken one and was going to replace it with an off the shelf NAPA check valve but I am not sure that's OK? The emmisions manual doesn't say if it is supposed to react differently at differant temperatures but why than are there differant colors, blue or green?

The VTV's are not check valves. They provide unrestricted flow in one direction, but restricted and controlled flow in the other direction. They are generally used to apply or release vacuum at a controlled rate, such as to slowly pull in or release a vacuum actuated diaphragm. The thread link below has more information about VTV's. The different colors represent different restricted flow rates. Also, it's important to orient the color stripe the correct way.

I think these are Toyota specific so you will have to get a new one from Toyota or someone like SOR, or get a used one from another MUD user.

Thanks, exactly what I needed to know. :)
