I was wondering if I should get an adapter to link the chevy transmission to the toyota transfer case or change out transfer case or change axle. My axle has an offset pumpkin. I bought a 95' s10 4x4 from a salvage yard to use parts from it. What in your opinions is the best solution taking in account money verses time? I havea 69'fj40.

Thanks,

Ditto everything Lil Jonh said. The most popular choice is the 4.3 with the GM Auto adapted to your T.C.. Your tranny gets nervous at about 250 ft. lbs. of torque. The GM Auto takes about 400 ft. lbs. of torque---plus torque multiplication, plus drivetrain cushioning, plus better hill climbing, plus lower first gear, plus overdrive. Cost of conversion is about the same either way. PM me for a complete shopping list.

I run a 4.3 with an auto and a 205 t-case. Had to flip the rear axle so the pumpkin is on the driver side and angle my drivetrain to do it. Kind of a PITA. Using the stock case would have been much easier, but I like a challenge. I actually had a Downey adapter but came across a deal on the 205 and went that route. Jim at Downey knows his stuff, he'll help you out. Good luck
