Visit and Fishing in Early June

Howdy, folks. I'm tagging along on a business trip for my wife to Boston in early June. I'll have June 6-7 to myself and am looking for suggestions on what to do. I'm fine hitting the historic sites (would still like your input on them) and I love to fish (fresh is best but I'll do salt. No flyfishing). Not-to-miss restaurants are also appreciated.

Help me plan my time, please, with some suggestions. Never been to Boston. Grew up outside of DC and enjoyed going to all the historic places...Williamsburg, Yorktown, DC, etc.

I'd also like to see if any of you fishermen would want to take me along on a Monday or Tuesday fishing trip. I'm happy to pay your expenses. I prefer light tackle freshwater stuff and usually travel with a pack rod and basic gear, but I'm happy to do anything. Maybe give me some thoughts on local fishing? Is there any public access to the Charles River downtown? Any kayak rental places nearby?

Charles River Canoe and Kayak rental is on 3 location: urban and suburban; full outfitters

Foot Canoe up in Topsfield (30 miles north of Boston) can rent you canoe up on Ipswich river; which is filled with brook, brown, and some rainbow trout.

Lots of great museums in both Boston and Cambridge (MIT & Harvard) Depending on what weekend you are here Larz Anderson transportation museum has really great marquee specific cars shows (in Brookline 5 miles from Boston)

Much of Boston's decades famous food vendors are gone. Jacob Wirth is still in theater district. Plow and Stars is still in Cambridge. Amrehins is still in South Boston. Regina Pizza is still in North end. For fancy pants food Mistral is in South End (10 minute walk from where you are staying) And/or Grill 23 (5 minute walk from where you are staying) Legal Seafood is an over priced tourist trap. Other restaurants tend to be small local cafes or national chain (like Morton's and McCormick & Schmitts)

And then there are all the craft beer breweries...... about two dozen, all within a 45 minutes drive of downtown.

I might be able to take you fishing, I do a lot of small mouth fishing in Lake winnipesaukee its about 1.5 to 2 hours north of Boston. I keep my boat up there. On average the small mouths run between 2 and 4 lbs. In June the site fishing for small mouths is pretty good depending on the weather in May and water temp. If your interested PM me. It may require going up the night before, fishing for half the day and then coming back.
