Has anyone heard of this? I am watching a You Tube video of it now. Basically follows the Western side of the state, north to south. Dirt, gravel roads for the most part.

I saw something about it a while back but I thought it also tries to reach out to the shore. Which youtube? The one I just skimmed through seemed to all be within 10 miles of Flagpole. It'd be cool to link it into the KAT.

I’ve heard of it and want to research it but always seems to get pushed down the list. What’s the video called?

When do you want to go? Some of it depends on the gates being open - I’m thinking about exploring some of it late fall this year.

I have 4 days off over Thanksgiving, I know not the best time for everyone....

Still not liking the Pin striping for Bald Knob, Eagle something or another trail!!! Or the deep mud holes. Looks like you can pick your poison kind of thing.

I watched it on tv, so will have to find the link on the web. This is the one I watched.

That's exactly the one I saw

BK, Tell us what you know about this trail group and gates to worry about.

I saw this vid the other day. It looks like Union springs and flagpole are part of it. I'm guessing second mountain, long run, and vepco Rd/ Germany river Rd and part of it to the north as well

There are several options to tha South of flagpole for dirt but nothing like Union. Lots of nice views though.

I have ridden most of the dirt roads in Western va on my.dual sport back in the day. Much of it is just gravel. I'd be happy to tag along if anyone wants to do it but just keep your expectations low. Think more oeuver landey type stuff.

100%. Totally Overlandy

I'd be down for this one day...when that day is IDK. Need to do a bunch to the 80 before I'd want to go

It’s Virginia… everything is overlandy ha

But I would like to do this trip sometime. I enjoy the views and camping just as much as I enjoy the crawling.

Seconding what you said David and adding to this
Union springs/flagpole, then maybe vepco and second mountain like you said then "bald mountain" also big levels on google. second mountain is really short these days and turns into smooth gravel pretty quickly due to the mt storm dominion project. Rode it early this year. There's a lot to explore and it's definitely beautiful. Some really good camp sites off of long run road (which second mt. and vepco run into) but there's not many and with the gravel access I'd bet they're taken if you get there late on a weekend. But who knows. Bald mountain is fun you can run it in about 3 hours if you go decently fast. Fun way is to go alternate route when possible which is steep up the mountain or steep down the mountain depending on direction. Otherwise it's just bumpy rocks, pinstripes, and limited views bc it's so thick. Good and plentiful camping off coal road at the bottom and a few epic sites at the top but same thing you have to get there early for the top ones. Bald mountain will close for the season either Dec 15 or Jan 15 until april.
