Virginia Adventure Trail

The VAT runs from near Damascus, VA up to Fulks Run, VA. The current revision is 656.6 miles long. The route has been finalized, but I still have some minor tweaks to do to it before it's released publicly. Unless I screwed up somewhere and didn't catch it (which is entirely possible), the entire route is open year-round. No seasonally closed trails are included in the main route. Some trails like Potts Mountain and Big Levels are optional spurs off of the main route, due to their difficulty and/or seasonal closures.
When the route's released, it'll be on www.virginiaadventuretrail.com, so keep an eye on the site if you're interested in getting a hold of the route files.

Thank you for putting this together. Hopefully we can educate people on things like tread lightly and staying on trails and cleaning up after themselves. I have seen too many trails close here in VA and would love for these to stay open.

May have to open more campgrounds or camping areas if this gets really popular.

I am sure you have put a lot of hard work into mapping this out. I enjoyed the videos.

This is what I was referring to when I said “tip to tip”. Would love to traverse this

Very cool. Thank you for posting here. Looking forward to checking out the gpx.

Buddy of mine looked into this since supposedly the files were released today, $16 single use and no sharing.

I can confirm, you get .gpx files for the VAT and the three optional spur trails. I honestly prefer this to any sort of subscription offroad map app.

I did a quick overnighter on 16, 17 October. Did Flagpole Knob to Reddish Knob. All very simple, though I did get ATRAC to activate going over a rut. Camped right by Skidmore Reservoir. I plan to go up Union Springs some time too. I need to try out a lot more of the VAT track.

Great pics! Union springs in a nice trail will keep you on your toes a little bit more but no problem for the truck

we have discussed doing some of this for creek Daze.
