Need to replace a section of gutter, plus add some on the garage. I'm too cheap to pay for someone to come install the seamless stuff. Been looking at gutters, wondering if vinyl is still crap or have they gotten better now? Looked at this stuff today, seemed well made:

Genova Raingutter Products

It just felt sturdier than the aluminum stuff on the shelf next to it.

Any tips?

I did aluminum for the very reason you mentioned but that was a while ago plus I did 6" and they didn't have that in vinyl at the time. It would be easier to work with.

That is exactly what we have on sections of our house. It is strong, will withstand a ladder banging against it without denting and you can cut it with a hacksaw and glue it together.

Just do not smack it when it is below freezing. I did that trying to remove some ice.... (Fsusteve, Ice is frozen water)... It will crack when it is real cold.

I like the look better than aluminum.

Thanks. I think I'm gonna give it a try. I'm gonna have to special order it in brown, I just hope it doesn't fade like the old stuff did. It's not huge $$, so if it sucks after a few years, it's not a big deal.

We had a bad ice/snow storm this year and I lost about 30% of the plastic gutters on my house. It got cold and just cracked apart. Also all the plastic tabs holding the sections up just broke as well. I don't know the age of it but will say that it didn't look too old and the prior owner didn't do anything on the cheap.

I vote for metal.
