VIN/Chassis # and Model Year? HELP!

Howdy,

I have a chance to bid on an LC70 Troopy tomorrow, an Embassy resale, but nobody seems to know the model year. They've labeled it 2006, but this does NOT seem correct. It matters because if it is 25 years out by the time I leave my present duty station, I can re-import it to the U.S. as a 'classic'. 1HZ inline 6, would love to take it home.

The chassis number on the door pillar was all I could find: JTERB71J000033450.

Can anyone help me definitively identify the production year on this. Only 150,000kms and bids start at $7k!!!

If you are DOS, my understanding is that if you are high up enough in the food chain, you can bring one of these suckers back.

Why doesnt it seem correct? They made these from 84 till present with only an engine and a few trim upgrades

Why the "nooooooo" if your worried about the year and that truck is being sold by a diplomatic service, you may very well be able to keep it here. A buddy bought a hj60 from a south American diplomats daughter and has it to this day and in California
