I'm new here and looking for some help...I just bought a 1975 HJ45...VIN on chassis is different than the motor. VIN HJ45006947
Motor is H25290. Can anyone help in decoding the VIN and motor number? Should they match? Is there a way to tell if this is the original motor?
Thanks!!

These may not be useful since it appears to be for US market: vehicles:

In Australia at least the VIN number is the chassis ID number and tells you everything about the vehicle and what it has fitted from the factory including type of engine and transmission. The engine number is different again and refers to nothing other than the engine. The Toyota records would however show the engine number that went with that chassis VIN. Maybe a call to Toyota would be able to confirm if you have the original engine in that chassis.

Toyota in the US will have no ability to correlate engine to frame number of a non-US vehicle.
