vibration when turning from a stop

Thing is, if it was "on" (and you don't want it on unless you are off road, in low speed situations for the most part) there would be a light in your instrument cluster telling you so, down towards the bottom below the speedometer and tach.

I'm just assuming you would have noticed that light being on when you drive it.

yeah, Im clueless, but not THAT clueless!!! :)

Here's food for thought. My old boss just came by, and he was telling me he had the same problem in his Tundra. His dealer told him that the front has a limited slip, so when they changed the fluid in there, they forgot to put some limited slip fluid in addition to the regular fluid. Knowing my parents, they probably had the LX's fluids changed at a jiffy lube place, and they probably just drained and filled with regular fluid.

Does this theory make any sort of sense? Or was the dealer blowing smoke to my old boss? He also noticed that the CV boots were leaking

There is an additive for limited slips but I do not think that is the issue. And if the vibration was coming from the front i.e. origin, you would feel it in many places.

Shocker: He mentioned that it occurs when he accelerates around a corner i.e. at speed. I wonder if this happens all of the time? I would imagine it happening around a corner and the pavement being uneven i.e. causing a suspension travel during the turn (even a .5" bump would cause mine).

Just a thought

Really, what it boils down to is you are probably going to have to take it someplace to get diagnosed. We can only do so much over the web, but I think we've given you some ideas of what the problem could be.

I'm guessing it's either the suspension as Jukelemon mentioned, or it's your CV joint going out (highly probable as well at 190K).

There's a lot of overlapping work in replacing the brake rotors and replacing the CV joint, so you or the dealer should save some labor if the CV joint ends up being the culprit (I'm speaking of your statement that you will take it into the dealer sometime soon to have the brakes looked at).

Thanks for the tip shocker. left side CV is definitely leaking. Its good to know that the cv joint labor coincides with the brake job. I will probably wait until the brakes need replacing and kill 2 birds at once. Saved me some double labor there!!

shop has told me that its most likely the bushing from the upper control arm. He says its completely ruined, and that is causing the diff to move around when making turns from a stop. 160 a piece for those to replace. Hope it fixes it

The diff to move around? Upper control arm bushings have 0 to do with diff movement. It would certainly cause some vibration but not from a moving diff.

maybe I heard him wrong then, cause he was doing a diff service as well to see if there was a problem.

would it cause the driveshaft to be misaligned temporarily while torque is applied causing the vibration??
