Much like this thread I have begun having a pretty significant vibration at idle, with a low, bassy tone to it. Vibration is only at idle, only in gear. In N, it disappears. Just developed. My try is an '02 LX w/ 53K. Thoughts?

mine vibrates but I already know the reason, my huge Borla tip rattles on my tow hitch. I need the 03 styled tow hitch that is IN the bumper.

which year did they start doing the hitch in the bumper? Does anyone know? I thought Jim had his in the bumper till he went with armor. Now that Adam posted that vibration, i pay attention to my vib alot more now even though ive had it for over a year. maybe its time to do more mods.

I *think* the hitch-in-bumper started '03, but don't quote me.

Since this thread, I don't know if I'm trying to hear it or what, but I've got a new buzz from the shifter - and I'm 99% positive it wasn't there before.

My GF will be able to tell if it's new or not for sure - cause everytime we're in the car together, if I hear a buzz, she's looking for it just to get me to shutup about the buzz! :)

Back to topic :)

I had a sound that can be what you hear.

It seems to be A/C related. But in my case, it ceased to happen some time later, and I never heard it again.

sorry adam, that was the vibration at idle i had, due to the tow hitch. I sidetracked it a little to get back at you for the pdiddy wheel comment. :-D You will be happy to know, my pdiddy wheels will be getting wrapped in BFG/Toyo/Nitto tires next time around. Just need to decide which.

Does your idle vibration only happen when the A/C clutch is engaged?

EDIT: i thought about the ac clutch w/o even reading dandons post, hummm.

My 03 has the hitch in the bumper, but the vehicle came w/ a drawtite tow bar underneath (obviously added on at port or the dealer). The hitch receptacle was covered by the plastic bumper access panel. You have to buy the 2x2 receiver adapter that bolts to the rear crossmember (so you'll have the hitch thing sticking out the middle of the bumper and can't cover it up w/ the little door unless you unbolt it).

Anyways, I think Siglo's LC's tailpipe was vibrating against his Kaymar bar. Comparisons between his exhaust and mine showed that his sticks out 1/4" more than it should (hanger prong wasn't seated in that rubber hanger correctly).

The TSB is EGO38-5 Exhaust Booming at idle. I have 2000 Lx and it still vibrates after having this done. While it is an improvement it is still there. Is directly related to A/C compressor, only vibrates when compressor is engaged.

I'm having the EXACT same problem with my 01 LX. Please let me know what you figure out...
thanks.

Update, it has nothing to do w/ the compressor. Still working on it.

Have a 99' Infiniti Q45 that was doing the exact same thing last summer. Only at idle while in gear! After 2 weeks in dealer under warranty and telling dealer where they can stick the car if they don't fix it, they fixed it. They ended up replacing the coils. There's 8 coil packs on that car @ $300 each. I love warranties. Problem solved. I believe there's a way to test resistance on each coil pack to see which one is bad.
