Hey there, y'all. Been a hot minute since I have contributed here but thought I would throw out my experience with the VenomRex wheels on my GX470 since I only see one post here with a reference.

I found this wheel tire combo for sale locally (VenomRex VR-602 with Falken Wildpeak AT3W in P-rated 265/70/17) and decided to give it a go since I was due for tires and my wheels had the TERRIBLE corrosion thing going on... The PO only put 5000 miles on these with his 2015 4Runner Limited but was selling the truck and wheels/tires to get out of debt (smart young dude!!!). For a cool grand, I couldn't pass it up.

My GX is a 2006 with NO KDSS and NO MODS. Completely bone stock with factory air suspension intact. I did want to go to a 265/70/17 so that I could once again share a spare with my off-road trailer after selling my 2006 4Runner Limited and getting this GX.

So, to the wheel/tire combo...

THE GOOD:
  1. HOT DANG!!! The wheels look AMAZEBALLS!!! My color with the bronze is a match made in heaven.
  2. Back to my fave tire size for no lift/small life
  3. 17" as a truck should be MAX! :)
  4. Falken tires look really nice for an AT
THE BAD:
  1. Well documented "issue" with reduced thread engagement due to thick wheel (apparently how they obtained the stance) and inability to fit ET lugs in the lug holes
    1. I will either add extended lugs or go with acorn style lugnuts and try and get most thread grab I can.
  2. Rubbing rubbing rubbing... I knew I'd have to do some mods on this based on experience with my 4Runner but once again, out comes the heat gun and the knife...
  3. Need to fight off the ladies with a stick now that my ride doesn't look like a HOOPTIE anymore! :)
For anyone on the fence about these, I say go for it. Parent company Vorsteiner is WELL known in the exotic and luxury car wheel market. This foray into truck/off-road wheels seems to be going well.

Trimming complete. Rubbing gone. Now I need to do some research about finding a 1-1.5” front lift without causing the rear air to rise as well...

Those look great and I’m about to pull the trigger on a set. I’m concerned about the thread engagement..
We’re you able to remedy this?
Any knowledge of anyone experiencing issues with minimal thread engagement?
how many turns are/were you getting?
I appreciate it!
