Agee on OCI. Oil weight may be up for debate, but I am dead set on nothing more than a 5k oil change interval.
How is oil weight up for debate when it’s recommended, by Toyota, everywhere else in the world?

When what is recommended everywhere else around the world? The manual that came with my LC says 0W-20 is preferred so I think a healthy debate is certainly warranted and informative. (And yes, I know about fuel economy games as noted in my previous comment.)

5w30 is recommended everywhere else in the 3UR.

That's what I understand based on this thread. The posts have been very informative and I am strongly considering a heavier oil when ToyotaCare coverage is over. But, as I said previously... I find it hard to believe that Toyota's sole gain in recommending 0w-20 is meeting USAs fuel economy standards. I am holding out hope that Toyota has fully tested the 3UR with each grade of recommended motor oil and has determined a negligible difference between them. (Unless in extreme conditions.)

I’m curious on issues with a dealer not covering something under warranty if you go out of spec.

How when the US manual says a heavier weight oil may be used if the vehicle is operated at high speeds or excessive load. Wtf does that mean?

I’d doubt they’d be apt enough to run an analysis.
I agree - i went back and read some of the previous debate. A 5w30 makes much more sense to me and i'll be switching in a couple thousand miles when i'm due.

I’ve always use 0W 20 in both my 200 series this is my latest Blackstone oil Analysis, comes back with great results. Lexus recommends 0W 20 I feel like the people that designed this truck know what’s best for the long term maintenance of the engine.
