Hi Folks,

Been wondering, what is the latest buzz on the stock "Valved" shocks as opposed to just replacing them with something else?
What would you recommend replacing them with if that's advised?

Running a 1991 LJ78 Prado.

I look foreword to your advice.

Thanks

I assume you're referring to these? (or similar product)

I'm looking for any ideas or suggestion.
I think I saw something called Old Emu (not sure of the spelling).
Any shock conversion or valved shock is of interest to me.

Can you give me a link to what you shared?

Thanks

I am guessing he is referring to the stock adjustable shocks on his Prado.
No really the same as valving in the case of a standard shock.
Old Man Emu is what you are most likely thinking of. An ok shock, but by no means a high end ,or long lasting shock. I have been through many sets of them, No real complaints, just don't expect any grand things out of them. I am running Dobinson shocks on my current LJ78. So, far I find them to be comparable, maybe a little better than the OME(Old Man Emu) shocks.
I don't really intend to run my LJ78 offroad very hard, otherwise I would have went Fox on the shocks.

It is all about your wallet, expectations about your suspension knowing what you want it ride like ..

think I saw something called Old Emu

I would also look at the Dobinson range. They were the first to develop after market suspension components for the light duty 7* series and are considered an equal or better to OME
Valved shocks for offroad use sound bit too extreme. I wouldn't go any further than an adjustable shock
