Hello,
after installing both rebuilt heads on my LC 100 4.7, it appeared a valve ticking noise.
I used a 10W60 engine oil because in the past I observed an excessive oil consumption.
In your opinion what could be the issue?
A wrong valve adjustment or a low oil lubrication of the heads due of a wrong choice of motor oil grade?
Thanks
Fabio

Unfortunately, on forum Web page it is impossible to upload mp4 file.
Upload to YouTube and share link here. Could be service bolt left out on head replacement. Will sound more like diesel engine ticking. Could be exhaust ticking.

This is the link where you can hear the valves tinking noise.
What do you think about?

Thanks for helping me.

Will look like this when you reinstall. Then remove bolt and no more ticking rattling. Can do quick check of cam and buckets while you are there. Sorry can't help on that. I heard similiar noise before when new heads went on and it's common mistake to forget bolt when removing ans reinstalling. Won't hurt anything to drive it just sounds bad.

I did not forget to remove the service bolt after reinstalling cams, because the cylinder heads were put in the engine by myself.

Ahh guess thats good and bad news. Sorry I'm out of ideas. Let us know how it turns out. Easy enough to pull valve cover and do quick check on clearances.

I did not checked the valves shims because the seller told me that it was done by the grinding workshop.
I think shims would be checked after installing cams. If you installed cams I don't think they could have checked the clearanced? I'm not an engine builder so maybe someone else will chime in on when and how to check clearance. Best of luck

Yea, @Wadepat2 is correct. Even if the cam clearances had been checked by the grinding workshop, you would still need to reinstall them in the same order during the cam install. Best to pull off the valve covers and use a feeler gauge to check. The FSM has a detailed instruction on how to do it. Let me know if you need the pages and I can send over some pictures.
