I just read a couple threads on the board about how to remove the VC and throttle body. A couple people mentioned that they found loose bolts. Before I removed mine I did a quick check and half of mine were only finger tight. At 140K do you think there is anything left of the VC gasket? Has any one had luck fixing an VC oil leak with a simple tighten down?

It's solid formed rubber, and probably in excellent condition.

I just pulled mine off last weekend due to a stupid pcv valve gasket. 145k on mine... VC gasket was in good condition. Starting to show minor signs of wear, but no leaking at all. All of my bolts were tight by the way, so tightning them down may stop the leak. The spark plug tube gasekets was another story... if you pull off the VC you'll probably crack them and then have to replace them. Mine shattered all over. Not a fun clean up. If you do pull it off, just be careful and pull the cover straight up and not at an angle to avoid cracking the seals. The tighten down is worth a try. If it works, then you dont have to do anything else.
